Pepper2 - the pumpkin roll at Food Lion will be on sale for $3.99 starting tomorrow! They are sooo good. I think theirs is made with buttercream frosting though. I prefer the cream cheese filling.

raesmom1612 - I am going to try to remember to make pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting for the cookie swap in December. They are amazing and I bet you would love them.

UNCW_Ash - Fingers crossed that the boys do the cooking tonight at your house!

Jdouglas - your rolls and rye bread sounds amazing. I adore rye bread - it's genetic. lol

Ya'll are making me hungry... everything sounds so good today! :) I had sweet potato pound cake w/cream cheese glaze over the weekend. Yummy !!! Now I too am thinking about pumpkin bread. Guess it's the cooler weather. I need comfort foods :)

Raesmom - Glad to hear you liked the pumpkin cheesecake. It's my favorite! Now you need to try pumpkin spice cake roll w/cream cheese filling, pumpkin bread, pumpkin fudge, pumpkin dip, etc.... I Haven't tried a pumpkin dish yet I didn't like.

RFB - Thanks for the recipe !

YBAverage - Menu revision sounds really good, but I'd have the mashed sweet potatoes with it as well :)

Last night we made beef stew... the first of the season :) Beef from the freezer and all the veggies are on sale at Aldi through today.

Tonight I'm on my own so it will be a quesadilla with whatever vegetables are in the fridge: onions, peppers, mushrooms, olives, corn, etc.

Pork chops, left over basmati rice (my fave) and a veggie. Pretty simple and boring but still so yummy. My girl and I are going to the gym which means dinner will be a little later and has to be simple. Maybe the boys will cook???

Jdouglas- yes! My cooking has gone through ebbs and flows, and I'm definitely in an ebb right now. It's been fun cooking simpler lately, while changing my priority to other things. A few weeks ago we bought fishing polls, yesterday was my first time back on a bike in about 20 years, and today I even bought a kite. Plus daily walks with my dog to the lake. I'm sure I'll be back to my cooking passion soon, but it's nice to take a break every so often. My dishpan hands are thanking me too :)

And p.s. I think you should sell your hamburger buns... people would go crazy for them!

RFB, I don't know that I'd want to ever bake again if I baked as much bread as you did working in a bakery! I should get bread recipes from you, although I imagine they need to be scaled down quite a bit. I could never get my brain around the bakers percentage thing either, so that makes it a challenge to scale down recipes.

My baking moods ebb and flow. I went for months this year with almost no baking. I think I started again because I felt bad for DW eating hamburger from the store, when she really loves the ones I make. I also made a big batch of biga that I had to use up. Thus, the rolls and rye bread.

VBAverage, your new menu sounds really good. I might have to borrow it one of these days soon.

Menu revision :P Grilled pork chops with seasoned black beans mixed with corn over rice, with grilled pineapple. Not quite ready to give up on summer !

Jdouglas- your Kaiser rolls sound great! And fun on the rye bread. I was actually going through my e-mail box this morning and saw the recipe for rye bread that you sent me last year. I really need to give it a try. Not sure why I haven't done much yeast bread making. Guess I'm still a bit burnt out from my few months working at a bakery and baking bread all day long about 8 years ago :-)
