    jdouglas - zucchini chips are like potato chips. Just made with zucchini and baked no fried. I will let you know how they are once I finally make them. DH is still at work.

    jdouglas13 - I heard the tops of carrots are great to add to salads or to stocks/soups /stews ! We used to eat the entire carrot fresh from the garden . I miss that garden more each day

    Discounted pork chops from HT that I found yesterday with left over basmati rice and green beans. Not too exciting, but yummy nonetheless.

    Ascherer, your Salisbury steak sounds really good. I'm going to have to steal that idea soon. You know I usually don't use pre-packaged foods, but I make an exception for the envelopes of McCormick Brown Gravy. If you want to gild the lily, saute some sliced mushrooms in a bit of butter first with a tiny pinch of garlic powder, and then make the brown gravy in the same pan along with the mushrooms. Unfortunately, you're on your own with the zucchini chips. I'm not even sure what they are supposed to end up as.

    RFB, your menu sounds delicious as always. Interesting idea for thickening the soup. Sometimes I use instant potato flakes.

    Dinner tonight is a frozen chunk of London broil sitting on the counter. I'm hoping it defrosts enough to turn it into beef stew with dumplings. I splurged on some fresh carrots the other day (with the greens on them), so that will probably be the side.

    Tonight is Salisbury steak in gravy with mashed potatoes and zucchini chips. This, of course, is dependent on me 1) making gravy and 2) making zucchini chips. I have never made either of them. I'm lucky in the fact that DH will eat just about anything I try to cook.

    Tonight we're having roast chicken and on the side I'm going to have toasted whole wheat pita bread with roasted garlic. And I'm also making a Cream of Broccoli Soup, but instead of using cream it uses garbanzo beans to add texture (from the Aug. Rachael Ray Magazine).
