LOSLTP - I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and moving around more.

Raesmom - sending thoughts are prayers your way. Maybe Baby will want some chicken after all or tomorrow. I wish I could help with the chicken and dumplings but I have never made it either.

Tonight is going to be penne in an Alfredo sauce and shrimp (if Kroger has any left on this last day of 25% off at the seafood counter) with fresh mushrooms, squash, zucchini, and onion. I may even kick the diet to the curb and get some garlic bread.

I like Pioneer Woman's chicken and dumplings. It's not a crock pot recipe but you may be able to adapt it! When I was pregnant, if I had to smell anything cooking all day, there was no way I could eat it that same night! lol my poor husband once spent half a day making me my favorite chicken soup and by the time dinner rolled around, the smell was making me queasy! lol I felt so bad but was able to eat it the following night!

Thanks for the suggestions yall. I have a bag of carrots in the freezer so I will throw some of those in there. I have a confession to make....I've NEVER had nor made chicken and dumplings (gasp). Any good recipes? I plan on using the crock pot a lot this fall and winter so any would be appreciated. Not too sure how I feel about the chicken tonight so I'm thinking veggie burgers for me. We will see. Corn chowder will be on the menu next week for sure......momma is craving it :)

Grama isn't too happy about coming to buffalo.....she has lived in PR for 83 years!! The first sign of winter is going to be a reality check for her. Poor thing. I see them moving to NC in the near future........SC here I come lol

DID I hear someone say Chicken & Dumplings ??
I could wallow in a big bowl of that or good Alfredo sauce .
jdouglas _ I am glad you saw the message - I had never thought about my dog eating bits and pieces I dropped either ( I did know NO raisins - so his oatmeal cookies and applesauce cake had no raisins). He also got waffles because he did not like the texture of pancakes- they stuck to his dish and he would not use his paw to get them loose . Yep I spoiled him
Thank You for asking ! I am feeling better today - most of the "sites" are looking very good - bruised but normal otherwise . I see the doctor next Tuesday. I have walked around the yard and checked tomatoes and things once today- maybe another walk later weather permitting. Still no lifting and limited bending( did not make me as wobbly earlier ).
    How is your DW ??

jdouglas - I would like the carrots too ! I always add them to my stock.
I think Rae and her Daddy might have to live with milder food for a little while just so Mommy can eat to keep herself & baby-to-be healthy !
LOL - THat would be a shock to move to Buffalo after living in the Bahamas ! I am sure she willb e glad to be closer to family even with the cold !

Losltp, hope you're doing okay today! Thanks for the tip yesterday on potato peels being toxic for The Princess of Naughty. Fortunately, it wasn't much that I dropped. She is WAY faster than I am and literally sits right under where I'm standing so she can get whatever she can. She has earned her nickname LOL.

Raesmom, good news about your Mom and Grama. Does your Grama know how cold upstate NY is in the winter?!?! Yikes!

Granoftwenty, yes to chicken and dumplings! Yum! Of course, M&C is good any time. :) Chicken and dumplings might be easier on your stomach, too, Raesmom. I would definitely add some adobo to the chicken, as well as some carrots and a little onion if you can handle it.

We are also having something with the leftover spaghetti sauce from last night. We ended up having Food Lion brand mini cheese ravioli that I bought a while back to try. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good they are. Personally, I liked them better than Celentano, and they were much less money.

RASEMOM1612- I would add small amount of stock ( the chicken will make its own as it cooks) since you are still having nausea I would lay low on the spices maybe sage, garlic, little onion, little black pepper -- let the flavor of the chicken "rule" - not the spices .
My family would scream DUMPLINGS ! ( we prefer the biscuit kind -some around here prefer the noodle type ). YUMMY ! the leftovers will be even better in a day or two -
Sides : favorite green veggie - with dumplings you may not need another starch but mashed taters are a favorite here my favorite : cream style corn
Of course you could do your famous secret bbq sauce over it and let it cook all day -maybe turn it into pulled/shredded chicken for buns , tacos ... or just serve with favorite sides ( mac & cheese and a greenie )
GLAD to hear your mom and grandma are doing much better ! !

Leftover spaghetti with meat sauce and pink cupcakes with blue frosting for us

I finally pulled that chicken that I got on sale at food lion a while back out of the freezer last night and put it in the fridge to defrost. I plan on putting it in the crock pot tonight so that it will be ready tomorrow morning. Any suggestions on how to season (what spices to use) or what to throw in there (potatoes, onions, carrots, corn, lemon etc.) Cant wait to see what everyone suggest.

chicken and pastry, I use annes, candid yams ,collards, corn bread. I have used atkinsons pastry with the broth in the pastry its good but when cooking it it cooks a lot faster and you have to keep your eyes on it.
