Posted December 24, 2014

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

Since it doesn't appear that Faye is going to do a "What's for dinner Thursday?", I will post Christmas Day dinner here. We are having a roast with oven roasted potatoes, sauteed squash, and side salad.

The finger food last night was a hit. We had it before Mass and then again after Mass.

    Merry Christmas.

RFB I am so sorry to hear you & your DH are still sick !Hopefully a few days of being togethe rand quiet will be the cure !
I have heard this year's flu is a bad one - take care everyone .

Asherer We love finger foods - chicken salad mini croissants and mini pizzas ( on english muffins ) disappear very quickly !

JDOUGLAS my favorite meals are those someone else cooks - mac & cheese would be a bonus !! LOL

Tonight - sausages cooked with potatoes and onions ; tossed salad selection of friuts for dessert.

Tonight we are doing a very nontraditional Christmas Eve dinner. All the family are doing different things today and have to fend for themselves. We will all come together this evening and go to Mass. Then we will have finger food (pigs in a blanket, ham biscuits, homemade chicken salad on biscuits or cr*ckers, cheese and cr*ckers, etc.). Tomorrow is our big family meal.

RFB - I do hope you and your DH feel better soon. The flu and colds that linger are the worst ones.

Jdouglas- thank you, it's been pretty bad, but at least DH is on the way home now and we have several days off together. And I'm with you... M&C goes with everything!!! :-)

RFB -- I, too, didn't realize you were battling the flu. I really hope you are both feeling better really soon. Both the flu and pneumonia and really knock the stuffing out of you for quite a while. Hope the worst is over.

Marimiller, where did you find brisket at such a wonderful price? Yum!

Tonight is actually going to be leftover chicken and dumplings. My sister cooks tomorrow (I think/hope) and is making a ham and not sure what for sides, although M&C always goes nicely with ham. :)

Faye- thank you so much! :-)

RaleighFoodBlogger - I am soooo sorry you are still sick. I did not realize that it was the flu you had. I hope you are on the mend very soon. Your crockpot chicken does sounds tasty, though.

MARIMILLER- that brisket sounds amazing! And donut holes are my weakness :-)

Tonight (and tomorrow, too) we're going really simple as we're still not over our sickness... I forgot how bad the flu can be :-( So, I'm doing a Creamy Italian Crockpot Chicken and Pasta dish with asparagus.

marimiller - I should probably amend my last comment since last night was the last actual candle-lighting night of Hanukkah and it end today at sunset. :-)
