I am finally making DH his meatloaf. Having lima beans and baked sweet potatoes with it.

Nakabi- I had a feeling... as is everything :-)

RFB-okra is definitely best when fried :)
We freeze it (sliced and in water) in ziploc bags and use it up all year round.

Twoboysandadog- how do you cook your okra? I heard it's in season this month, but I have no clue how to make it so it tastes great. And has anyone ever pickled it?

Mon Account- at one of the B&B's I worked at in Santa Barbara, years ago, we made a beer cheese dip for sourdough bread rounds. We actually heated up beer and velveeta (yup, that's it)... and our guests LOVED it! I think that's the only time I've ever had it, and come to think of it I wasn't even 21 yet... but the beer probably burned off when we cooked it :-)

We have eaten london broil on the grill like a steak too!
Last week I cooked london broil in slow cooker with cream of mushroom soup and served over egg noddles and my kids loved it!

Smolder13 - I'm with. I can't wait to try the London broil with it goes on sale again. Thanks everyone for the "cooking class". I really appreciate it.

I can't wait until the London Broil goes on sale BOGO again so I can try it in the slow cooker. Everyone's dinners sound so yummy!

Tonight we will be having some sort of layered enchilada bake to use up the leftover cooked ground beef (sale at HT this past week) from yesterday, the end of a bag of corn tortillas, and a leftover half of a can of black beans. We'll top it with some chopped lettuce, onions and sour cream. I love it when all the things that need to get used up work out like this.

I wish I could join the London Broil party! I'm definitely stealing the simple side dish ideas to go with some baked tofu, though.

My boyfriend had an urge for velveeta a bit ago so I got him some. I don't think that's meant for adult bellies! Back to some simple (and real) foods for awhile. Thanks for the side dish ideas! Yum!

Oh man... now I'm craving something in the slow cooker :-) I will be bringing mine out this week too! Tonight, I think I'm going simple. I defrosted some chicken from TJ and I'm just going to cut it up and use their masala sauce. Rice and broccoli on the side.

Jdouglas- that sauce for your pork sounds great!

This is hilarious! It's officially "Beef In The Slow Cooker Day!" And my house smells awesome now!

barbiedoll1967 - jdouglas' instructions were great about how to cook a London broil. I usually slow cook it until it is falling apart. I use various marinades depending on what we want that night including Teriyaki, BBQ sauce, Herb & Garlic marinade, and tonight's Steak and Chop marinade from HT. When I use BBQ sauce, I fork pull it apart when cooked and serve on rolls for BBQ sandwiches. I usually add some veggies in the slow cooker with the meat like mushrooms, onions, carrots. It's so easy to make and as jdouglas pointed out, wait until it goes on sale BOGO and you will have a good deal.
