    jdouglas ~ I am a pasta freak!! I guess I see where Rae gets it from LOL If we all made pasta for a picnic.......I would die LOL Especially yours with the Italian sausage!!! I always say i'm going to do that and I always forget. I hear the sausage gives it a lot of flavor. I bet it would be yummy with a 50/50 or even 60/40 mixture of beef and Italian sausage......mouth is watering now lol

    jdouglas~ I just add lots of fresh veggies to the meat before I add the sauce. I love mushrooms, kale and garlic and hubby thinks "pasta can not be made without green peppers and onions" so even if I buy a jar of ragu/prego with peppers and onions.....I always have to cut up more to add to the meat lol Also instead of ricotta cheese I use sour cream (same as Faye) and I use penne whole grain noodles instead of actual ziti noodles and shredded sharp cheese and I guess its a baked penne not a baked ziti :)

    Ascherer ~ Unfortunately we NEVER have left overs to freeze LOL When Rae is giving me trouble eating (we all know that toddlers do that at times) That is my go to meal for her. She will eat 2 bowls in one sitting for dinner, another bowl for lunch and 2-3 more for dinner the next day......her "teenage" daddy LOL is no different. He has the metabolism of a 16 year old!!!!!!! So I am sorry I cant help you with freezing.....but I would recommend what jdouglas said

    I looked at Turkey tenderloins( roast ?) at Walmart recently - JennieO brand and another I can not remember ( sorry ) .

    RFB - I believe that I got the turkey tenderloin from Krogers. I get customer appreciation coupons from both Krogers and Food Lion, but I think this came from Krogers. It is a Jennie-O from the fresh meat counter. I've had it for a few weeks stored in the freezer.

    jdouglas - that sounds even better. It is easy to make one recipe and split it into to two dishes especially since there are just the two of us in the house. Since this is my first time making baked ziti, I may just do a traditional one and have the veggies on the side. Cool. Thanks

    OK... now I'm confused. Raesmom, you made baked ziti with veg? Details please. :) Can you imagine if we all made pasta for the picnic? I have no words! LOL

    Ascherer, are you talking about freezing traditional baked ziti? I think you could do it successfully, but don't bake it first. Just assemble it and then freeze it. Have extra sauce that you can heat up when you serve it in case it comes out dry. I used to make mac & cheese and freeze it unbaked, and I often make stuffed shells - no sauce, just filled shells -- for the freezer all the time.

    Raesmom I have to tell you, your ziti with the veggies is what stuck in my head. Adding the veggies just sounds so good. Do you also freeze your ziti? If so, how do you do it? Thanks

    LOL everyone.....maybe we shold have a ziti cook off next sure we will be so full with ziti that we wont have to hear about it least for a month :)
