Thanks RFB. We are trying something other than liquids or puree and crossing our fingers! It will probably be a week or two at least until we can actually have something like a salad or steak or crusty bread, but a medium rare burger is a huge step forward!

Mon Account- thanks, I'll check it out. And yes, good to know- mine also tasted like a campfire, but will give it a try in a marinade!

Thanks! I can't remember exactly, but it was probably Colgin brand - a google search shows a bottle similar to mine.

I think liquid smoke likes to be used with pieces of food instead of used throughout an entire dish. A few dashes made my soups taste like a campfire (yuck!). But a whole tablespoon as part of a marinade never let me down, whether it be tempeh or tofu!

jdouglas- glad to see you're back to your regular cooking routine!

Mon account- great recipe. I was wondering on the liquid smoke. Do you buy a certain brand? I've tried it before in recipes and it always seems to give such an overpowering taste.

First semi-normal dinner in days - burgers on the grill with sliced tomatoes and potato salad with homemade basil mayo but no veg. Last day for some nice looking ground chuck still on sale for $2.99/lb at HT. Sliced strawberries (3/$5 at HT) with sweetened heavy cream for dessert

Mon Account - that miso dressing sounds awesome! Thank you for the recipe.

Tonight is one of my favorites: Kale & Tempeh Bowl with Brown Rice.

It's pan-fried diced sweet potatoes, baked diced tempeh (w/ 3T soy sauce/1T liquid smoke/1T water), and a well-seasoned saute of a chopped bunch of kale, a diced onion, and minced garlic - all served on brown rice (made with veg broth) and topped with a miso-tahini dressing.

The dressing is insanely good on a lot of things: whisk 4T tahini, 1T red miso, juice of a lemon, salt/pepper and enough water to get to a consistency you like. If you google for 'miso tahini dressing' you'll find tons of uses for it!

I get miso at health food stores, and tahini is usually kept with nut butters or kosher items in regular grocery stores. I keep my miso in the freezer, too, and plop some in a lot of dressings and sauces for a little extra something.

Tonight we are having chicken teriyaki with stir fry veggies and brown rice.

stasan1 - that is a delicious sounding topping for the cod!

jcpmoore - The strawberry almond salad recipe sounds very interesting. What a good idea.

Cod on sale 1 more day at Lowes Food for $5.99/lb. Going to salt and pepper the cod, top with crushed Ritz, dot with butter and bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes until flaky. Great New England recipe and the cod price is outstanding. Will serve with fresh sautéed green beans and rice pilaf. Easy peasy and good too!

Chicken Marsala with grilled zucchini and a strawberry almond salad with romaine and cucumber. Local strawberries and zucchini from the Produce Box.
