What's for dinner Tuesday?

Crab cakes and slaw

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

What's on your menu tonight?

The crab cakes and slaw we had last night were so delicious I had to post a picture!  The Cara Cara oranges from Food Lion are also very tasty.  They have such a unique color to them - almost a cross between a grapefruit and a traditional orange.  I am working on my food presentation thanks to Diana's encouragement with her Spoonful of Luxe recipes each week!  Even my husband commented on how pretty the meal looked.

Careless-Ingles has those Gharadelli brownie boxes for $1.18
Is that a good brand? and is the $1.18 a good deal? I always make my brownies from scratch, but if that's a good deal I may pick up a couple boxes.

Sandwich for a crowd. One pound browned ground turkey mixed with a jar of marinara sauce, 1 cup of cheese and a can of mushrooms. Stuff inside an Italian loaf of bread and bake. Served with asparagus.

Carelesswhisper- I used those in my shakes! I was really impressed with them :-) Oh, and a brownie sundae would be good too!

If not a brownie sundae will be good!

HT had the gharardelli brownie mix BOGO so I picked up a box. I will try to make RFB shakes for dessert tonight.

bgrmom - turkey fajitas sounds great and we love chicken pot pie here!

What in the world will you do with that frozen turkey breast you bought on sale? Turkey and stuffing ? Nah! We normally marinade and grill it after de-boning it. That's what we did last week. That meant lots of leftover grilled turkey. With the leftovers, we went for turkey fajitas the next night. I cooked the peppers and onions in a skillet first and then added the turkey at the end to reheat it. It was surprisingly good and a nice change. Tonight, we will be doing homemade chicken pot pie. I made the filling ahead of time, so tonight it's just "stuff" the crust and bake!

Carelesswhisper - I posted yesterday in the meal post that I actually bought the crab cakes pre-made for the first time. Here's the info including the brand and cost:

The crab cakes were sooooo delicious! I have been craving seafood lately so it hit the spot. I actually bought these at Food Lion. They were in the meat dept and the brand name is Dockside. I have never bought pre-made crab cakes but they were a good deal and were surprisingly good (once I added ample Old Bay seasoning). They are regularly $7.99 and were on sale $4.99 for 4 medium sized cakes with 150 calories each and only a couple grams of fat. The slaw on top was perfect!
