Gator girl, that sounds like a great idea! Thanks. :)

We were going to have the ribs I bought on sale at HT this week, however my youngest has requested that instead I swing by HT on the way home to pick up chicken breast for mayonaisse chicken. Probably with a pack of biscuits ($1 at HT this week minus the MCs), salad mix from Aldi's with shredded cheese (last B2G3 from HT), grape tomatos (also Aldis), apples, pecans and sunflower seeds. And probably another veggie of some kind.

Faye, the butternut squash soup turned out really well last night. I had never done anything with a butternut squash before so I decided to play it safe and stick to the recipe... mostly ;) The only thing I changed was since I didn't have any smoked cheddar cheese I used a mix of Vermont white cheddar, mild cheddar, and sharp cheddar cheeses instead. The soup is sweeter than I expected but still really good. Even my husband who hates squash ate almost a whole bowl. He says he'll add some hot sauce to it when he has the leftovers. I had some for lunch today and it's actually better the second day once the flavors have blended more. Here's the recipe again for anyone who might want it:

    alwaysab-your gumbo sounds delicious!
jdouglas-yes, broccoli soup is one of my husbands favourites and I don't make it that often (too many calories for my liking and the kids don't cheese). I like to put a little periperi (hot sauce) in for some extra zing. (that's the only way my kids eat it since they are used to eating spicy food lol)

We will either have leftover seafood gumbo or chili.

We were supposed to have rib eye steaks last night, but I forgot it was the BCS championship, so my hubby wasn't home for dinner. Guess it's rib eyes tonight. Grabbed them for a song on mark down.

Jdouglas - I often use ground meat in soups like vegetable beef. Add veggies, tomatoes and ditalini pasta along with a good stock. Tonight I'm fixing some split pea soup using some of the last honey baked ham from the freezer. I'll add celery, onions, carrots and potatoes to it. I'll serve it with some sourdough bread we got from San Francisco as a Christmas gift.
