What's for dinner Thursday?

Posted May 30, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

We had homemade stroganoff with some beef stew pieces that were B1G1 at HT awhile back. I had all the ingredients on hand which is unusual for here. As I posted elsewhere I was out of hamburger helper (I like it because it is one of the few things my boys will cook) but no more (went to HT, you can't beat 50 cents a box with coupons). Then when I got back they wanted hamburgers with the hamburger I had just picked up.

Birds Eye Voila pasta dish(from SD $1.99), French bread (was B1G1 @ lowes last week) and steamed broccoli (from walmart about $1) :)

I wish we had a "like" button on here like facebook does! There are so many times I want to "like" a comment.

    Thank you, Nakabi!

I, too, am a Pad Thai person. Also, used to eat a lot of Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and a Thai-style pickled cucumbers with onions, rice vinegar, etc. relish/salad in Northern Virginia. Cannot remember the proper name for the cucumber side.

We will definitely visit Thai House on Falls of Neuse Rd and try their panang and their massaman curry with tofu - new for us.

If we happen upon the owner, we will say, "Nakabi sent us." :-)

Thanks for the recommendations - Vietnamese and Thai - restaurants and menu choices.

Good luck! Please keep us posted, here on the blog, on your new adventures in Tennessee! You will be missed!

We are having pulled pork sandwiches and french fries. Gotta love it when HT had boston but(wouldn't let me spell correctly} on sale last week. Easy dinner by letting it cook all day in the slow cooker since hubby works late tonight.

Dstned2BMe-How did you make the sesame ginger glaze? That sounds yummy...

  • Dstned2BMe May 30, 2013

We are having fish with a sesame ginger glaze, stir fry rice and stir fry veggies. I am using fresh caught cra**ie (moderator won't let me use that word! haha), Hinode brown rice free from previous SD with coupon and ZVR, yellow squash and soy sauce from HT sale, onion from produce clearance and green pepper from FL sale. The sesame ginger glaze is left from a previous meal. This is a VERY frugal meal for us!!

In response to whomever asked about what Thai place I recommend yesterday, I like Thai House on Falls of Neuse Rd. The owner is one of my policyholders and they have great panang! My husband likes their pad thai and we both like their massaman curry with tofu.

Spaghetti & meatsauce with garlic toast. Mueller's Hidden Veggie pasta free recently at ht, ground beef last time CC's had it on sale, some brand pasta sauce for $1/less at some point (brand doesn't matter, as I doctor it up to make it how I like it anyway!), plain white bread slices from Aldi's (forget how much their bread is, but cheap).
