yesterday we had mahatma saffron rice (free), chicken thighs seasoned with mccormick original chicken (.23) frozen corn and green beans. Today spaghetti and meat sauce using barilla blue box whole grain noodles, Newman's own pasta sauce (1.00) and ny ciabatta rolls

Faye, best wishes for a very happy anniversary! Enjoy your special dinner. :)

mothar, it's nice to see you here! I look forward to reading your posts. It's not at all a competition here. Folks are very nice, even those of us who make bread! ;) Most important, it doesn't have to be fancy to be really good!

FWIW, I learned how to cook from:

    1. Earning a girl scout cooking badge when I was a kid, using a Betty Crocker kids cookbook.
    2. Hunger, because my mother made all kinds of "special" foods like veal kidneys.
    3. Watching Chef Tell on TV about 30+ years ago.
    4. Reading MANY MANY cookbooks! LOL Buying cookbooks used to be a bit of an addiction.

Dinner last night was spaghetti with meat sauce with a ton of veggies in it, my favorite kind of sauce. Tonight, probably meatloaf and mashed potatoes, frozen green beans. Not fancy, just tasty :)

    Have a wonderful Anniversary!
I see the wonderful cooks are posting a bit! Making homemade French baquettes even! I do love reading this :)

mothar - That's too funny. :-) I agree with ascherer - I'm no gourmet, but I love reading about everyone's dinners and they definitely give me plenty of new ideas. We ended up with angel hair pasta and a choice of alfredo or vodka sauce and baked chicken.

Tomorrow night we are going out for our 18th anniversary so no cooking for me! AND we are using a gift card that was given to us so dinner at a very nice restaurant will be close to free! :-)

mothar1 - Don't worry about the others that may sound like gourmet cooks. All of us learned to cook the same way - one thing at a time. New ideas are always welcome. Some times I feel like I feed my DH the same things week after week. This blog helps give me new ideas. Enjoy your dinner. It sound delicious.

We are having grilled pork loin (Manager's special yesterday), steamed fresh green beans, apple sauce, and garlic toast.

Faye, I think all the gourmet cooks are off elsewhere this weekend, so I felt brave enough to post, lol...
