jdouglas13, city bbq is on the new side beside blaze pizza and starbucks just before you get to Cabelas. This is my favorite location, but they have them in Cary near Trader Joe's and on Falls of the Neuse in front of the Sprout's grocery store.

Faye, I've had more flops than not lately, but I did have one success today making use of some markdown veges from HT & Lowes: 1 small eggplant (sliced long ways about 1/4 in), cooked in skillet with a bit of olive oil until tender and slightly charred, 1 tomato sliced 1/4 in cooked in skillet after eggplant was done, toasted 2 slices of garlic bread (markdown from kroger-whole loaf that was baked with garlic pieces in the dough-first time I had seen it like that), smear of duke's mayo, layered eggplant & tomatos, then heated a snack pack of prosciutto wrapped mozzarella sticks (2 to a pack, markdown from kroger) till slightly charred and cheese melting. Put one on each toast stack. Boy was it good!

Vlynn, thanks for the tip on the fried okra from City BBQ. Are they over in the new side of White Oak?

And, the napoleons just came out of the oven!! We're very excited about that! :)

Thanks for sharing your menus today, everyone!

vlynn - it's good to see you on the meal thread! You should join us here more often during those times when you do cook. :-)

twinredheads - great spread! I love gourmet buffet.

lindabates - Your steak sub dinner sounds really good.

jdouglas13 - good luck getting to the creamy tomato shrimp and pasta tonight. It sounds wonderful.

Gourmet buffet: turkey chili, beef stew, or green salads with Perdue grilled chicken, boiled eggs, cheese and lots of veggies.

Saw the comments about fried okra yesterday. Since I'm not much into cooking, though I try occasionally :-) I hunt down places to find it. City Bbq has fried okra in a thin cornbread batter that they serve with a chipotle dipping sauce. It's the bomb! It's a great mix.

Your soup sounds good, Faye. We enjoyed ours tge last couple of nights. That said, I am going to try again to make the creamy tomato shrimp with pasta. Hopefully tonight is the charm.

Dinner tonight will be steak subs and pierogies for the hubby and I. The kids will have either chicken nuggets and mac n cheese or hotdogs and chips.
