Observant, sending you a big thank you hug! I've been trying FOREVER to make my favorite potato dish. Thank you so much!! :))) Hoping you are feeling better very soon after your dental work.

The Argentine shrimp on sale at Lowes are so good. I really like that they are not farmed shrimp. I think the ones on sale are shell-on, but for that price, I'll shell them!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

JDOUGLAS13 - I am so glad you tried the baked potato trick ! It works so well for so many potato dishes !
We are having a Nature's Place chicken , biscuit dumplings and a soft green veggie ( I had a dental implant this morning ) .
Wishing for homemade vanilla pudding - may feel up to making it after a short nap...
RAEMOM1612 - I am looking forward to making your peanut butter cookies very soon !

We did not have the shrimp last night but I did have the broccoli. lol So it's garlic shrimp and sauteed zucchini (from Aldi), onions and baby bella mushrooms for dinner tonight. This shrimp is from a FL sale a few weeks ago, but remember that Lowes Foods has a fabulous deal on Argentine shrimp this week: $9.99 for 2 lb bag!

For those coming to the cookie swap on Saturday, WRAL is also having the Coats for Children coat drive so if you have any extra coats, hats or gloves that your kids or you are no longer using, please bring them along!

ascherer - what a nice time you are having with your mom! Tell her thanks for us for her cookie swap help. You should bring her!

jdouglas13 - YAY on the au gratin taters! And we swap coupons first so if you are running late, you'll still make the cookie part...unless you are running really really late. lol

lindabates - happens to all of us - no shame there.

Last night, Momma and I made pork chops, mac & cheese, and sweet peas. Tonight dinner is at my favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

This afternoon we are continuing making cookies. Some are for the cookie swap and some are for our gift trays we give to our neighbors. We got her tree up this morning and she will decorate it once I leave.

I don't think anyone is in much of a cooking mood this week for cooking after all the work we did last week for Thanksgiving.

Last night, though, for the first time EVER, I successfully made au gratin/scalloped potatoes! They were delicious! They were cooked through! They didn't curdle! This is all thanks to the kind person here on the blog who suggested I boil the potatoes first. So simple, yet so brilliant! Thank you. :)

Today is baking day for the swap. I'm looking forward to it. Is the start time on Saturday really 10 am?? ;)

P.S. Dinner is still a mystery.

Don't feel bad lindabates!! It happens to the best of us. We may make it a McDonald's night on Monday (my first day at a new job)

I you d this recipe on allrecipes.com and it looked interesting. I found a 3lb petite pork shoulder roast at food lion for $4.52 and it seemed too good to pass up. We will have mashed potatoes and carrots on the side

Last night we ended up having leftover rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans and salad.

Tonight we are having spaghetti with meat sauce, side salads, and grapes.
