Thanks for the well wishes everyone. He is doing surprisingly well as he found a conservative periodontist who does one side one week and the other side a week later. He was actually able to have pita bread and hummus on the one side today. He also pureed some cream of potato soup (ick).

Jdouglas- I ended up using cream cheese instead, and it was delicious! But, next time I'll write down what I do. Maybe it's adding the lemon juice at the end after it's thickened up a bit, and using a whisk to combine? I mostly just throw things together and hope for the best lol! :) Hope your skirt steak and cookies were good!

EM2S, that sounds fun. Usually around here, it doesn't get any more special than (yet another) pot of coffee. ;)

RFB -- I'm trying to figure out your recipe in my head without the lemon curdling the cream?? It sounds really good. Would you share please?

Fantastic dinners everyone! I think we are having baked sweet potatoes, chicken tenders and a side salad tonight. After a very busy day I need an easy dinner.

RaleighFoodBlogger - I am in love with your dinner! LOL

Em2s - I love your hot beverage bar ideas!

twinredheads - Poor DH. Send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Now I am off to post Barbiedoll's cookie recipe for you all! Thanks for sharing Barbiedoll!!

    JDouglas13 - Awesome!

Around here each one seems to prefer a different hot beverage. During cooler weather, a hot beverage bar allows each to choose. Tonight's bar will have a mulled damson plum cider, peach-mango herbal tea, and hazelnut decaf latte. The 'dunks' for stirring sticks include honey crystals and Nutella. Then, cream, mini-lemon slices, and a cinnamon shaker for finishing touches to-taste. Hopefully, the clear sky will allow for bit of star-gazing while we sip :)

In Summertime, a cold refreshment bar usually occupies a shelf in the fridge. With a wonderful warm day tomorrow, I'll make ahead and chill a couple of cool-weather refreshments. I have an early al fresco quasi-Mediterranean tapas bar in mind for supper tomorrow to get us outdoors while we can. :)

Nakabi- I prefer heavy cream, but we have 1/2 and 1/2 on hand, and it has turned out nicely in the past.

EM25- love the stuffed potato idea... I'll be adding it to my monthly menu! :)

EM2S - around 8:30. Come on by! :) Please bring some of your leftovers, your dinner sounds really good, but especially the tart. What is the hot beverage bar?

Nakabi, I love the blend of your grilled cheese sandwiches.

Twinredheads, yay for homemade pizza. Hope your DH feels better. I'm betting even a smoothie is a challenge for him after gum surgery. Ow.

Homemade cheese pizza for the girls, stir fry for me and yet another smoothie for poor DH who is recovering from gum surgery.

  • Em2s Nov 17, 1:09 p.m.

JDouglas13 - Looks like we were posting simultaneous so I just saw your meal plans. ....and what time did you say supper was being served? ;-)

  • Em2s Nov 17, 1:07 p.m.

Nakabi - Very budget friendly meal! ... should warm the body head-to-toe :)

    RaleighFoodBlogger - Sounds scrumptious!!

TheRealNCYankee - Vanilla flavored beverages are such a treat this time of year! :)

A light supper for us tonight: broccoli and cubed ham stuffed baked potatoes, raw carrot coins with red pepper hummus and a rustic peach-pear-red grape tart with hot beverage bar.
