    No idea what I'll be eating tonight, but last night's food turned out really well!

    Faye, chicken and waffles go together really well for such a strange combination. As much as I don't like syrup, a little pure maple syrup really tied the meal together. I tried a new waffle recipe and it made the perfect waffles. The flavor, the texture, everything. It's my new go-to recipe!

    Ascherer, smell the Jiffy mix before you use it. Cornmeal goes rancid pretty easily. I'm thinking baking powder is what you need to add if it smells ok. Probably two teaspoons should be plenty.

    I think we're having the leftover buffet thing (what is it we call that?). I have leftover stroganoff and mashed potatoes that DW will probably like, and breaded chicken cutlets for me.

    We are having chicken sandwiches with Red Robin seasoned fries ($1 at LF with coupon this week) and clementines and strawberries.

    ascherer - sorry, but I do not know what you need to add to the Jiffy to perk it up. But your chili sounds good. :-)

    coupon4me - your egg/bagel sandwiches sound delicious. I would probably put the avocado right on the sandwich because I love them on just about anything.

    @ Ascherer Chili sounds so great. My family won't have it as often as I would like!

    We are doing breakfast for dinner. Egg and cheese bagel sandwiches with (free) Bob Evans sausage - from a survey I did - with avocados on the side.

    Tonight is chili and corn bread night. I will start it cooking around lunch. It will be ready for me to have for a late dinner but I will let it cook most of the evening. I do love cooking in my Momma's kitchen. This will be a huge batch. I will freeze some to leave here at Momma's in single serving containers. I will take a bunch home frozen for our freezer. I'm glad I saved chili for today. It is supposed to rain almost all day.

    Question - The Jiffy corn bread mix Momma has here is a year out of date. I remember I have to add something to it. Is it baking soda or baking powder and how much? Thanks
