Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

TJ84-mmmmmmmmmmmmm It's a 7 hour drive to your place from my house I think so if I leave now I'll be there just in time for that pot roast! Sounds delicious!
Faye-those latkes sound good! Anything else go into them? And I'm with you. I rarely fry anything (can't stand grease) but every once in a while Mr. Nichols wants something fried. Funnel cake is good though and the kids and he devour it! I keep a couple batches of the dough in the freezer so it's easy to make.

Tonight we are having baked coconut shrimp (shrimp $7/lb at Lowes Foods through 12/16), baked sweet potatoes (good deals at many stores this week) and steamed mini carrots (carrots were only .69 at Aldi until 12/16)

Nakabi - that's hilarious about your menu tonight! It is a fried food buffet. lol I do love funnel cakes so if I leave now, I may make it to your house by dessert! :-)

It's very rare that I fry anything, but the latkes (fried potato pancakes with shredded potato, onion, egg, salt, pepper) on Tuesday were so good that I am going to make a double batch this weekend so I have extras to freeze and share with my dad.

Tonight we are having fried cra ppie (Mr. Nichols went fishing yesterday), fried okra (from this summers garden), corn (from the garden), hushpuppies, homemade chips (known as french fries to Americans lol. I was asked what we call what you guys call chips and we call them crisps.). And for dessert? The request was funnel cake. As if the meal itself wasn't a heart attack in itself LOL. I will be making a salad so I don't die from all the fat intake! haha
