I too like to put my own spin on recipes - I have a few recipes for brunswick stew.I like to see what others add - some places it is beef & pork , some pork & chicken and some just chicken .
Its like barbeque - here it is vinegar based and other places it is tomato based .
Some add flavor at the end some cook the meat in the flavors the entire time .
    Thanks again for replying !!

LOSLTP - The recipe was a recipe. It was listed as Brunswick Stew Georgia style. I didn't follow directions exactly because I didn't have everything, plus I generally put my own spin on things. But the basic recipe was very good and my stew was certainly delish.

Jdouglas- really? I watch the chew every day and I never noticed anything like that :-) Well, either way, he does have great recipes... I bought his last cookbook- it's nice! And I'm drooling thinking about napoleons. My Mom & I used to go to a bakery in Solvang, CA that had the best ones I've ever tasted. I ate the whole thing each time lol!

Nakabi- I'll let you know on the recipe. Also, I posted a coupon on the deals page for a free jar with a $5 purchase, you could give it a shot for free! I'm going to head over there this week... excited to try something new. And I love their new gift boxes (they just launched a new website- I just love them!)

Raesmom- too funny on your chef crush! Mine is Eric Ripert... I have a weakness for French chefs :-)

Do you remember the link ??
I want to make some on a weekend DH is working and can/freeze some of it for later
Going to buy it tonight - I just do not want to cook and there are no leftovers ! lol

Tonight is easy -- leftover lasagna and napoleons for dessert.

I have to confess Michael Symon is not one of my favorite people, but mostly because of his attitude towards Clinton Kelly on The Chew. JMHO :)

RFB-I love grapefruit and shrimp. Never would have put the two together, but it sounds interesting! Let us know how it is! And I agree raesmom, Michael Symon is a good-looking man, even if he is 15 years older than me lol :) I've seen him on Food Feud. I want to think he was on Iron Chef as well?
    barbiedoll-your soup sounded good!
Tonight we are having murgh makhani (known as butter chicken in the Indian restaurants) using boneless skinless chicken thighs purchased for .89/lb, heavy creme left over from making butter last weekend and lots of spices. Speaking of spices, I used to buy my garam masala from an Asian store in Raleigh and there's not one nearby here. Anyone know if the garam masala from Penzeys is any good? I only have enough left for tonight's meal and we use it quite often in our dishes so I need to purchase some soon. We will have garlic naan, basmati rice, and saag paneer with the makhani. Fruit parfaits for dessert again per J's request.

LOSLTP - I made a huge stockpot. I had a total of 9 containers full and shared with my neighbor as well. It's good and hearty especially on cold days. But I'm glad to see it end!!

LOSLTP - I made my own Brunswick stew on Tuesday night using a 'modified' recipe for Georgia Brunswick stew that I found on-line. It was delicious and easy to put together. We had it with hush puppies that night. I split up the leftovers and put half in the freezer and saved some for dinner last night. We had it with corn muffins last night. I think the taste was better the second day since sitting let the flavors meld together.
