RaleighFoodBlogger - I sincerely apologize for dissing your beloved peas. :-) If it makes you feel any better, I do serve them to the rest of the family every once in a while because they all love them. My girls especially like LeSeur peas right out of the can at room temperature. LOL :-P

RFB-the $5 cooked chickens at EF are simply delicious!!!! They had a lemon herb one once that was soo good, but I haven't seen it since that one time.

Nakabi and Faye... oh how you hurt my heart... peas are one of my favorite things! :-)

Jdouglas- I have had the chicken- I found out last time that they're actually Springer Farm- the company that partnered with Paula Deen and that I won the cooking competition with. I thought they were very tasty. I love that they also have $5 cooked chickens on Fridays.

Faye, the pizza was really good, and I have another 2 lb container of ricotta that is about to expire, so we may have baked ziti or lasagna for the freezer in our very near future.

nakabi - I don't like peas either! They feel like paste to me. I have the same issue with most beans as well. lol

I love the idea of using the mushroom caps as the buns. I could eat mushrooms at every single meal forever and ever!

Jdouglas - Now you have me craving white pizza..... :-)

We've had some odd dinners this week -- white pizza and pastrami sandwiches on rye -- twice each, so tonight I am making spaghetti and meatballs for DW and eggplant parm with a side of spaghetti for me.

RFB, have you had the whole chicken that is on sale at EF this week for $0.99/lb? I'm really tempted to take a ride over there and stock up on several for the freezer if they are good.

RFB-that sounds delicious! Minus the peas :) Peas are the one vegetable I don't eat lol
Tonight we are having turkey burgers, using the great deal on portabello mushrooms at Aldi and will use the mushrooms as our buns for our turkey burgers. Top the burger with avacado, cliantro, tomato. Mmmm....
Did the $25/$5 SS deal on OreIda potatoes so we will have them wtih the burgers along with some sliced tomatoes & cucumbers from the garden.

Tonight we are having creamy garlic chicken (about to go into the slow cooker) on a bed of egg noodles with a green salad.

RFB - those calzones sound yummy!

  • RaleighFoodBlogger Jul 17, 2014

Tonight we're doing calzones using a past HT pizza dough ball. I'm going to stuff it with a layer of a parsley and cilantro chimichurri, then add in some potatoes, spinach, peas, and a bit of ricotta and mozzarella cheese. And for my DH, I think I'll also make up some of the grass-fed beef from past EF sale, into patties.
