jdouglas- how sweet on the cake... and pink roses are the best!

  • jdouglas13 Sep 26, 2013

Yes maam. Saturday is the big day, although I already received my bday gifts from my sweet girl: my new slow cooker and a dozen pink roses, my fave. :) Not sure what we are doing for dinner yet. Maybe lobster at home, but that exceeds her culinary skillset ;)

Did I hear birthday? When's the big day, jdouglas??

  • jdouglas13 Sep 26, 2013

DW suggested we have hot dogs on the grill for dinner. She hardly ever makes a request, so hot dogs it is - Nathan's from a prior BOGO sale, probably with cole slaw on the side.

She is also starting to work on my birthday cake today. She makes it for me every year: yellow cake, lemon filling, swiss meringue buttercream, all from scratch. This is all by the woman who can barely boil water, so the effort is enormous. How did I get so lucky!

Ah, the CSA box was just delivered! We'll have chicken breasts cooked with the Campbells Thai green chile skillet sauce over brown rice, along with a big ol' batch of squash and onions, and some sliced cucumbers.

Well, getting those two recipes printed out took some work, going between IE and Mozilla, but I got 'em. Sounds delicious, can't wait to try the onion soup--I don't like French onion soup, so hoping I like this one....
