What's for dinner Thursday?

Posted July 4, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

We are celebrating the 4th of July with grilled light beef hot dogs and chicken sausages, grilled veggie skewers, pasta salad, watermelon, holiday dessert (I'll post pictures Friday)!

I made some vichysoise for my Mom who can't eat solids these days. My sister is making dinner for the rest of us -- a cold shrimp and pasta salad, I think. My DW is making herself a sandwich. Very glad it doesn't involve the stove! ;)

Skinless chicken breasted bought on sale @ Food Lion cooked on the grill, corn on the cob that we bought & put up in the freezes from the Farmers Market, & boiled red potatoes bought on sale @ Kroger a couple of weeks ago for $1/lb

Sounds delicious, Oxy! Thanks for the reminder about the asparagus in my freezer! lol. I think I will dig that out and stick it on the grill in a pouch as well. And yes, I think it is the last of mine as well. :-(

Butterflied leg of lamb on the grill, on clearance after Easter at HT, 80/20 Angus burgers, BOGO at Lowes a couple months back, asparagus in a foil pouch with garlic, salt and oil, $1.47/lb from a sale at Lowes months back (and I think it's the last of it *sadface*), potatoes in a foil pouch with bacon, don't remember where I got the deal on potatoes, ground veal, got on clearance at Kroger, that I intend to shape into patties, wrap with bacon and grill.

Less frugal foodstuffs, because I'm smitten, some Italian sausage and 2 inch thick pork chops that I'll stuff from Mae Farms at the Farmer's Market.

I'll also be making lime fizzies (lime-aid with seltzer) because they're healthier than soda and they're super yummy. You can also adjust the sugar, or use a sugar substitute, so they're customizable to the preference of the drinker. You can even add cherries, or substitute some cherry juice for some of the sugar to make cherry lime fizzies. My kids have always loved these.
