Faye-We were getting dressers for the girls' rooms and looking for new furniture for our living room. Found some things at great prices. Cannot wait until they get here. And I DID make the salmon packets. As good as I remember them :)

I forgot all about the Cary Ikea to be. That should be fun!

Gee, I haven't been posting much this week. I think the days just got away from me. I finally had the egg salad on rye that I had been
craving, and a couple of nights of spaghetti with meat sauce. Last night was pasta carbonara with broccoli.

Even though it isn't cold, it's so gloomy I'm thinking about soup tonight. I have cooked shredded chicken in the freezer, so maybe chicken corn chowder.
I also have some dinner rolls I made a few weeks ago, so maybe one of those too.

GJan, sending very good thoughts for you with your surgery!

ThomasG - homemade ice cream and brownies?? Yes, please!

observant - been a long time since I have had brisket. Great idea to turn the leftovers in soup.

twinredheads - were you picking up something special at Ikea or just road tripping it? I look forward to the Cary Ikea opening!

Once again the salmon packets didn't happen last night (spent two hours driving to Ikea, 4 hours in the store and 2.5 hours back) so we had take out Chinese. They WILL happen tonight, however, as they are now thawing and nothing will get in my way!
GJAN1- I just take a large piece of foil and place the salmon fillets on it. I sprinkle them with whatever fish seasoning I have and top with approximately 1 cup thick sliced mushrooms. What makes them really tasty is a drizzle of balsamic vinegar on the top. Place packet on the grill on med/high for 10-15 minutes depending on thickness. Serving with steamed broccoli and baked potato.

GJAN1- Your surgeon is Highly Recommended( by co-workers and patients.
So is Duke Regional Hospital - it is big enough to have the latest and greatest but small enough to not be overwhelming.
You are in my family's prayers !!

GJAN1 - My DH nor I have personally met your neurosurgeon but are familiar with other doctors at his current office location and HIGHLY recommend everyone who has be involved with any treatment we have received there .
Duke Regional is a Great Hospital -I wish our insurance allowed us to go there for treatment .

Tonight we are having chicken tikka masala (using the chicken breast I batched cooked in the slow cooker Thursday night), broccoli slaw and red potatoes.

You can see the recipe for the broccoli slaw on the wral recipe database:

When DH had back surgery for a herniated disk in March of last year, he used healthgrades.com to find a really great surgeon. Check out both your doctor and hospital there, for your own peace of mind. (DH highly recommends the surgeon who treated him, if you're looking for a new doctor.)
