We were going to grill burgers and corn but with this storm I think grilling will be tomorrow night. Be safe everyone

GJan1 - that is very helpful advice. Thank you!

I'd be glad to give you some ASU insider's advice. Our timeshare was a Godsend because we can rent there half price year round. Our cabin was never available, but there was always one available to meet our needs. Orientation, family weekend, etc. we saved enough for it to almost pay for itself. A 2 bedroom can sleep 6 so we had room for my parents, ex, and me for half what one hotel room would cost. I gladly took the couch sometimes. LOL. You can't get 6 in a hotel room and you don't have all the amenities like a full kitchen. They have studio to 3 bedroom cabins.

GJan1 - Thank you! We love Blowing Rock and visit almost every summer for a long weekend. There are so many good restaurants in this area it is hard to pick so I really appreciate your recommendations! My youngest is considering App State so I'll let you know if that is where she ends up going. I'd love any advice you can offer!

I highly recommend the Daniel Boone Inn in Boone for breakfast or dinner. Boone Baglery on 105 S or downtown Boone (parking is easier on 105). Freshly made bagels and pancakes and omelets too. If you want to dress up and go big I recommend Twigs near Blowing Rock for dinner, great duck confit (reservations advised). Canyon's (Blowing Rock area) has a Sunday Jazz Brunch with live Jazz. Menu is a la carte and reasonably priced.
I've had a timeshare near Boone for over 25 years, and my oldest son graduated from Appalachian State. Needless to say, I've spent a lot of time in the area. Have fun. Bon Appetit!

Dinner out tonight....in Blowing Rock! I am escaping the heat with my 15 year old so we'll be eating out the next couple nights in the mountains.

    Have a great day everyone!
