Observant, I picked up the items at Lowes. The hot dogs were actually little beef sausages (but I didn't realize it until we got home) -- Hillshire Farms. I rinsed them to try to lower the sodium a bit. I also used the buteery crescent rolls -- Pillsbury I think. Don't ask me how, but I managed to cut exactly the right number of dough pieces for the number of hot dogs/sausages I had. I baked them at 375 on parchment for about 2 minutes longer than the container specifies for the rolls. 12-14 minutes? They were actually pretty good, and I am not at all a fan of hot dogs OR pigs in blankets, so that's saying something!

JDOuglas13 I do not touch creasy greens, turnip greens or collards so I sub broccoli, coleslaw or salad . Thanks for the hints on the crescent roll dough ! I will try to make some next weekend and surprise DH . Any brand of hot dog that works best ?? I don't buy many hot dogs
    Raesmom1612 - Sounds like you had a Wonderful time ! Many Wishes for a Wonderful 2017 !

Tonight : ham, black-eyed peas, and a salad ( no broccoli in the house and it is too nasty to go out to the big freezer in the shed ).

I HOPE Everyone has a Wonderful 2017 full of family, happiness and good health !!

FWIW, last night's pigs in blankets worked out pretty well. DW was very happy with her menu. :)

Tonight I'm leaning towards something a bit more substantial. I'm sorry I didn't have a pot roast or some beef stew meat defrosted. I have some boneless chicken breasts, so maybe fried chicken, breaded chicken cutlets, or chicken piccata. Plan B is old faithful -- M&C, side of broccoli. Will broccoli count as good luck for the new year? ;)

Thanks Faye. The hotel (which was the Hampton Inn not the Marriott lol) was fun. We swam yesterday for a bit and then went back again this morning before checking out.

On this cold rainy day we are having taco soup for dinner. Im thankful that I don't work tomorrow.....I need a day to catch up with laundry (and sleep)

Observant, I have never made pigs in blankets from scratch before, so I'm winging it. Cheese would have been good! Sorry I didn't think of it. I did use crescent roll dough. Next time I will roll it out a bit to mend the seams and stretch it a little.

Yet, Kitty is permanent. LOL. Never thought I would EVER be saying that! Six baths? Oh my! Do you still have skin left on your hands and arms? I'm glad to know who to go to for my cat questions. :)

JDOUGLAS13 - My DH loves pigs in a blanket but some how we never make them ( use the ingredients for other stuff ) .do you use cheese in yours ?? Do you use crescent roll dough ??
So KITTY is a permanent member of the family now ?!?
I bathed 6 fur demons ( OK 5 were demons- the one I expected to be BAD was an angel ! LOL he laid in the tub and purred ) .

Happy 2017 Everyone! My wish for all of you is good health, great bargains, and much joy. May 2017 be a kinder, gentler year for us all.

DW and I are having a quiet evening at home as well. DW requested apps for dinner, so tonight it will be tarragon deviled eggs, homemade pigs in blankets, brie and tomato-raisin chutney on crakers, and something else I'm forgetting.

Observant, you have been working like a dog! I admire your bravery to give your cat a bath! What little I have learned in the last few weeks about cats makes me want to be good friends with our dog groomer and convince them to handle Kitty too. I totally agree that our furkids are permanent 2 year olds. It's part of their charm most of the time! ;)

My best wishes to everyone. Have a safe, fun evening.

raesmom1612 - how fun! Enjoy your night out!

observant - You definitely deserve a few night off after all that work! Enjoy your apple cider toast and 2 am NYE smooch! :-)

lindabates - that sounds like fun!

Em2s - your sangria sounds fantastic! Tasty had a good recipe for a citrus tequila sangria on their FB page today. I like the sound of your berry one better though. Have a great evening!

Happy New Year Everyone - Best Wishes for a Fab 2017 !!
Tonight I staying in - neighbors may have fireworks but usually no excessive parties nearby.
I am having grilled salmon, baked sweet potato, and a tossed salad with boiled eggs and leftover grilled chicken ( I had most of it for lunch)
fruit, cheese & a few nuts for snacking
I have apple cider to heat up as my "toast" to the new year .
DH will be home between 1 and 2 am so our New Years kiss will be late or by TEXT
After cooking two massive meals last week and sharing them with friends/shut-ins then spending the last 2 days cleaning ( floors all washed/steamed/polished /waxed) , heavy laundry done ( curtains bedding and mattress pads ) steam cleaned the mattresses and bathed the cats ( and lived !) I did enjoy my few hours of semi-peace last evening ( cats are permanent 2 year old- always fussing or wanting something LOL )
