Posted April 16, 2016

Sauteed veggies

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like.

If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

So dinner Saturday ended up with a bit from Column A and a bit from Column B (those from my vintage will know exactly what I'm talking about here). Burgers on the grill, grilled asparagus, microwave baked potatoes. Super easy cleanup and we even had a couple of sides. Faye, you are totally right. If you have Magnum bars, no sides needed. :)

Tonight might be something grilled too. Maybe marinated boneless chicken breasts if I get them out of the freezer. I'll probably make a few extra to slice into salad later in the week.

Ascherer, your family reunion sounds like so much fun! When I was a kid, I always wished I had a big family so we could have one. I would LOVE the recipe for the 12 layer chocolate cake! That sounds amazing.

Raesmom, enjoy your day out with the kiddos and DH!

    Happy Sunday everyone. :)

We were out almost all day yesterday getting so much done. We stopped at shish kabob on Fayetteville st downtown for a late lunch and it was sooooooo good. We would definitely go again! By the time we got home, it was late and there was a lot Of mess to out away so Dominos gift card to the rescue. Rae and DH had pizza and wings and i had pasta. Saved me from cooking.

This afternoon we are on our way to the Chatham street chow down, can't wait to see what food trucks are there! Enjoy this amazing day today y'all :)

ascherer - your family reunion menu wins for the weekend! Sounds super delicious!

Saturday was the family reunion at Myrtle Beach State Park. We had fried flounder, hush puppies, fries, hotdogs with chili, corn dogs, pasta salad, spring vegetable salad, coleslaw, and fruit salad. Dessert was 4 kinds of cookies, congo bars, 12 layer chocolate cake, and 2 pies. If it could be homemade, it was - right down to the tarter sauce. A fun time was had by all. Dinner was cheese and cr#ckers. None of us wanted than that. It is really awesome that my Brother and SIL stayed at Momma with us for the weekend. Momma loved having all of her kids home together.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

jdouglas13 - your grilled shrimp sounds great! As long as you have the Magnum bars for dessert, who needs sides? lol

    Gourmet buffet tonight.

I'm definitely cooking out tonight. Plan A: grilled shrimp and asparagus with garlic and lemon over pasta. Plan B: (probably more likely than plan A) a burger on the grill on bread since I forgot to buy rolls. No sides. Sorry LOL ;)

Tonight it's chicken sandwiches using some rolls I picked up at HT for .40 per package (on sale BOGO at the bakery with a $1 clearance coupon on them!). Sides of fruit and deviled eggs.

Who is grilling tonight in this gorgeous weather? We are grilling light Hebrew National beef hot dogs tomorrow night (on sale BOGO last week).

    Happy Saturday everyone!
