Jdouglas - Thanks for the recipe. We followed it tonight (with a small change) and it was wonderful. DH decided he wanted to thicken the sauce with a roue (flour and butter) and that worked well. We used the whole (medium) bottle of Marsala I had bought (not the good stuff). I will look for the good Marsala next time. Thanks a bunch and give your DW a hug for me.

GranofTwenty - Thanks for the tip. At this point I just want to find something that works and keeps my DH from going insane. He has been the one to find all of the accidents and clean them up. We are monitoring them both carefully right now. Very limited canned food with dry food and clean water out all the time. Water bowls are out in the garage and on the back porch - all food is inside. I want my furry babies to be happy and healthy.

ASCHERER - I have had very good results with children and pet stains with Oxyclean - I mix about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the powder with WARM WATER (start with one cup adding more if powder does not dissolve ) .You can mix and keep in a spray bottle ( hair or plant mister ?) - just be sure to shake it well . The white vinegar and baking soda Jdouglas suggested does a good job with odors and is all natural so pets will not be harmed . we had a cat that pulled all his hair out after we used a carpet cleaner meant for pet stains ! It was a good thing his hair grew back before cold weather - I did not need another one to put clothes on every day ! I do hope the kitty is OK !!

JDOUGLAS13 - I use the seven seas italian dressing mix . I use about 1/2 of the oil called for ( I use EVOO ) and about 1/2 the vinegar ( what ever type is your favorite or you have on hand . apple cider is a little strong for me but some love it ). It is also good on small potatoes - coat them ten roast or grill them - brushing with mixture as needed .

Granoftwenty, your menu tonight sounds delicious! I'll have to try marinating the pork that way. I bet it's really good.

Observant, you are too kind. Thank you for the sweet compliment. :)

Ascherer, I promise to give you a call the next time I make chicken marsala. I'm glad you found out which of your little guys is sick, and hope he's doing better. Sending a little pet for him.

Thank you all for the tips. I just hope my little fellow is feeling better soon. We figured out which of the cats it is because we found another accident upstairs and only one of the cats ever goes upstairs.

Ascherer- you might want to try Arm & Hammer Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator (in a yellow bottle). I've only been able to find this at Target, but we always keep in on hand. It's been a serious miracle worker for us. And besides it's normal use, one time I spilled an entire glass of red wine on cream colored carpet. Used it- and gone. Highly recommend.

Jdouglas - Thanks for the chicken Marsala recipe !! the cake sounds "to die for" !
Just like GARNERTOY - you need to write a cookbook or open a restaurant !!

We are having roast beef, mashed potatoes and green beans - nothing fancy but the roast will slice up nicely for sandwiches and quick reheat suppers .

Chicken marsala recipe: Saute a lb. of mushroom slices and 3 cloves of chopped garlic in a bit of butter. Set aside. Add a 1 T each butter and EVOO in same large frying pan. Dredge chicken in S&P seasoned flour, then saute till mostly cooked and lightly brown, adding more butter/EVOO as needed. Remove chicken. Add in 2 more cloves chopped garlic, cook for a minute or 2 until fragrant, then deglaze pan with about 3/4 cup EACH good Marsala wine and chicken broth. Reduce till syrupy. Add back chicken and mushrooms to reheat and till chicken is done (very briefly). Top with a good amount of fresh minced Italian parsley (don't skip this). Enjoy! :) Note - I used Lombardo Marsala from Whole Foods for about $11 - great Marsala from Italy.

(continued) and let it go to work. Blot and repeat until stain is gone. If really stubborn, pour baking soda on the stain, then white vinegar. It will look like a chemistry experiment. That should do it. If not, try some Oxiclean powder and a scrub brush. At that point you have nothing to lose. Pet stains are the worst -- good luck!
