Faye- I'm sorry you had a bad meal... so disappointing :-(

Tonight we're using the ground turkey I got on sale yesterday from Target and making tacos. I'm going to try that McCormick taco sauce that we got at HT SD a few weeks ago. I checked the ingredients, and they're not too bad! :-) We always add in some rice and corn to the meat mix (surprisingly good!) And for dessert my DH picked out a Marie Callender's Razzleberry Pie... I agreed since it was on sale at HT :-) I just wish they were as good as the fresh ones from the actual restaurants of my youth. I still practically drool thinking of the fresh strawberry and peach ones.

raesmom1612 - thanks for the b-day wishes for DH. We got Japanese take out and there was actually something off about it last night. We all agreed our hibachi did not taste the same as it always does so I called to ask if they were using a new type of oil or cooking method and she said they only use water and nothing has changed (in a very rude tone with no apologies). It had a slightly off flavor and it just wasn't as good, which was disappointing. The employee did not seem to care at all. Don't think we will order from them again.

ascherer - Glad you are starting to feel better and I hope you found something to eat last night!

Old faithful spaghetti over here using some left over homemade sauce from the freezer free noodles and ground beef on sale from food lion a while back it was a markdown pack.

Happy birthday to your DH Faye, Japanese sounds yummy :)

twineedheafs- I found a box of brownies too! Lets see how much energy I have after doing last nights dishes (i was soooo tired) and cleaning my room.....

everything sounds so good. No clue what is for dinner tonight. DH is out of town for an overnight trip. And I don't even have the makings for mac&cheese. Finally went to the Doc and starting to feel some better.

Our Friend that I saved the cookies for said to Thank all of you. He enjoyed his little piece of Christmas. Now he is trying to figure out how to eat bacon at every meal.

My husband's birthday was this week so we are celebrating tonight with Japanese food and a lemon glazed bundt cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream (per the birthday boy's request).

twinredheads and Observant - great and frugal meals tonight! Thank you for sharing them.

    Twinredheads- that's a great deal!

Observant- Your chicken sounds great! I'm doing a roast chicken tomorrow... got a Just Bare whole chicken from Target $3 off (tons of chicken w/markdown tags), and then there is a $1 off meat text Q.

Tonight I'm making Lemony Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Green Bean Pasta with Goat Cheese. And on the side we'll have some of the leftover BBQ country pork ribs from the other night... they made a ton!

BJ's in Cary had Smithfield Spiral sliced glazed ham for .99 a pound today. Combined with the $1 off coupon I got an 8.5 pound ham for $7.50 so I'm combining that with a veggie (probably green beans), Fleischmann's country white bread on sale during super doubles and scalloped potatoes. While cleaning out the pantry I also found several boxes of brownie mixes about to go bad so will be making one of those as well.

roasted chicken with herb/cornbread stuffing ( Just save had Sanderson Farms whole chickens $.87/lb last week ), sweet potato casserole ( Walmart had sweet potatoes $.28 to $.48/lb during the holidays - made extra baked sweet potatoes and a couple of casseroles and frozen them in Food saver bags), green beans ( picked at local farm and canned last summer). Dessert - fresh fruit ( strawberries - Kroger; apples - Just Save, oranges - Kroger, blueberries - Kroger).
