Thanks for all your kindness and the web sites and prayers. They told me that he is diabetic too so no sugar. Have to count carbs, no sugar and watch the salt. Doesn't leave very much to plan a meal. It is very confusing to me but I am reading and trying to learn. Still tired from the hospital stay but maybe my mind will kick in soon so I can develop a plan. Did talk with a dietitian but I was so tired and sleepy I did not comprehend very much. thanks again.

NaneeLion - I am sorry to hear about your husband. Check with your local hospital. They may have a Dietitian you can meet with and discuss Dumping Syndrome. Try not to get too frustrated. Remember both of you are trying to figure this out together. I remember when DH was diagnosed with diabetes. I was so frustrated and felt like I got almost no guidance until we met with the Dietitian at Rex hospital. Good Luck.

Nanee Lion- I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. And I did a bit of searching and it looks like there are several meal plans out there. Here's a link to one with a list of foods to avoid, and that are OK, plus a 1 day sample day. http://www.upmc.com/patients-visitors/education/nutrition/pages/dumping-syndrome-diet.aspx

It looks pretty doable (and he can have cheese and meat according to this!!) And I'm with Faye on the RD... they can be of great help in it all!

Nanee Lion - I am so very sorry your husband was back in the hospital. I hope you are both back home tonight. Have they set you up with a registered dietitian? That might be a good first step and she/he can probably recommend some specific cook books.

I am sure you have already done plenty of research on the subject and I imagine the doctor gave you some materials but here is a list of eating suggestions from the mayo clinic for Dumping Syndrome:

    http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dumping-syndrome/basics/lifestyle-home-remedies/con-20028034

You are both in my thoughts while you figure out how to best deal with this syndrome.

Since we just returned from another trip to the hospital for my husband, I have not planned anything. I would love some help! We have to start a new life style of eating since they think he has something called Dumping syndrome where your food passes through your body too fast. BP drops and he faints and has extreme pain. If anyone can offer some help with planning menus, it would great. He has to eat 5 small meals a day. Also has to watch his sugar and salt intake. For a country cook, this is going to be hard. Prayers are appreciated.

    VLYNN -

I'm greek and we've never put meat in out stuffed peppers! I cook my rice in tomato pulp, season it well with salt / pepper / onions / etc, add feta, and stuff my peppers!

Maybe googling for a greek recipe would yield more vegetarian results?

Raesmom - Those lasagna roll-ups sounds great!

ascherer - grilled fruit and ice cream does sounds very good.

One of our dear neighbors is bringing us dinner tonight. I have no idea what she is bringing but we will love whatever it is. :-)

I think you are smart ! The pineapple cakes mixes have artificial flavoring -using regular cake mix and adding real flavoring/juice always tastes better !
Let us know how the roll ups do - I have thought of trying them but want a review I trust first.

So I was just on my pinterest page and saw a lot of pins for lasagna roll ups and now I want to make some!! Lol I am very easily influenced especially when it comes to Italian food :) so dinner tonight is going to be lasagna roll ups using a mixture of ricotta and sour cream and a meat sauce for the filling topped with lots of cheese and mini pineapple upside down cakes for dessert. Got a box of yellow cake mix and am going to use pineapple juice in place of the water that the box calls for to give the cake a pineapple flavor.......I know I could have just bought a box of pineapple cake......but I like to be different (or difficult, depends on how you look at it lol)

Pork chops never got cooked the other night. DH said he would grill later today once the rains quit. So I'm going to the store to find some veggies to grill with the chops. I may even buy pineapple rings and bananas to grill for dessert. If he is really nice today, I will get some ice cream to go with the grilled fruit.
