Thanks all. Raesmom - I was thinking of your recipe. The crock pot cream of chicken sounds great also. Smolder- that sounds good. I will have to make it a point to come back to the thread tomorrow and save these recipes.

It was unlimited shrimp. I had 2 servings of shrimp and barely touched my steak and they let me bring the steak home. DH had 4 servings of shrimp and killed his steak.

Ascherer~ Another favorite of mine for the crock pot is creamy chicken. I take 3 chicken breast and put them in the crock pot from frozen, mix a packet of Italian dressing with 1/4 cup of water and pour it over the chicken. Leave in crock pot for 4 hours on low. After 4 hours remove half of the liquid and shred the chicken, add 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 block of cream cheese. Cover for 2-3 more hours on low and serve over white rice or egg noodles. A few friends have tried this one and they LOVE it :)

ascherer~ if you are talking about the super easy 9 can taco soup here it is (I have also used 3 fresh chicken breast instead of the canned just cook it in the crockpot from frozen alone first after a few hours 3-4 see if it is shreddable and if so drain any liquid and add all other ingredients)

    2 cans Chicken breast drained

1 can black beans drained and rinsed

1 can pinto or kidney beans drained and rinsed

    1 can chicken broth

1 can cream od chicken soup

    1 can enchilada sauce

    1 can super sweet corn

1 can of diced tomatoes (or a can or rotel)

and 1 packet of taco seasoning

Throw it all in the crock pot on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours......dinner is served

Hubby's b-day is next weekend and his mom is sending an Outback gift card (we've never been) so I'm hoping for that steak and shrimp deal to still be going on.

Happy birthday to your oldest Faye!!! Im sure she had a great day!!!

ascherer - did I hear unlimited shrimp?? Yum!

We celebrated my oldest daughter's birthday tonight with Chinese take-out, at her request. So I had shrimp as well, ascherer. :-)

RFB - thanks for the tip on the book!

ASCHERER- I make the Pioneer Woman's chicken tortilla soup in the crock pot all the time. In fact I just made it last Thurs. It looks like a long list of ingredients, but it really isn't. I skip the corn meal and add a can of corn (drained) or frozen corn depending on what I have. I thicken a little with cornstarch at the end. I love it!

Splurging tonight. Going to Outback for steak and unlimited shrimp.

The chili was perfect. Someone has a recipe for a 7 can soup (maybe taco). Please post it again. I'm look for all the crock pot meals I can find. Thanks.

Faye- sounds heavenly to me... as I practically live in the kitchen :-) This time around we have a larger kitchen, but I still don't seem to have enough room for all my spices lol!

Oh, and the recipes were from a new cookbook (called Raw & Simple by Judita Wignall) that I bought, and is probably my favorite so far! And hope the soup helps her cold! No fun.

Ascherer - I bet your house really smells wonderful!

RFB - your recipes sound very creative! I though of you yesterday. I read an article in the wall street journal about how foodies have significantly influenced modern residential architecture. There are now many more requests for "super pantries" that are huge and include work spaces, tons of cabinets, nooks for a computer, areas for food prep. They are basically a mini kitchen connected to the main kitchen. Of course, some of these "pantries" are as big as my whole kitchen!

Tonight we are having the homemade veggie soup I made yesterday with baked chicken tenders and peach slices (Ht peaches are .79/lb this week). The timing on the soup was good. My youngest has a cold (welcome back to school!) and she was very happy to have soup last night.

    Ascherer- that sounds delicious!!!

And tonight, my DH is having a huge steak salad with all kinds of veggies, pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries, and his favorite "strawberry" dressing from Brianna's. And I'm going to try 2 new raw recipes- Mashed Cauliflower with Mushroom Gravy and a Peach and Hazelnut Salad with Chipotle Maple Dressing (using the peaches on sale from HT).

Due to the cooler weather we are getting, I started a crock pot of chili last night. It cooked all night and will cook all day. It has green, yellow and red peppers; an onion; hamburger; 4 cans of beans; and 2 large cans of tomatoes. Then all the seasoning and 4 cloves of garlic. The house smells good.
