jdouglas - you are very welcome - it was pure luck - I did not want to lose the sweet potatoes but already had the Thanksgiving feast completed !
GOOD to hear your parents are having a good "spell" - the ocean breezes must be so soothing .
NOw if your DW could only get well !!
Your tomato soup for tomorrow sounds yummy - good comfort food .

I did baked chicken tonight , corn and mixed salad - use up all the little tidbits in the fridge fit to be in a salad .

Thanks Jdouglas, Girls night yesterday as awesome, Dessert was amazing, it was crème brulee not lava cake, but it was still great!!

The boys loves the cheese stuffed meatballs and so did Rae!!

Tonight i have a taste for y old faithful, homemade red mashed potatoes, corn and peas, and bone in pork chops smothered in sausage gravy with Pillsbury biscuits on the side. Maybe peanut butter cookies for dessert.

Observant, I never knew you could freeze sweet potatoes so easily. Thanks for the info, and thanks also for asking about the folks. They seem to do a bit better in the warmer weather and are right near the coast, so they get nice breezes too.

Tonight's dinner. DW - I have no clue what she's in the mood for, but is probably glad to have something different. I'm having salad with leftover roasted veg and steak mixed in. For tomorrow, I'm going to poach a boneless chicken breast, run it through the food processor until it is finely minced, and make a creamy tomato soup with the chicken, orzo, fresh basil.

RFB Thanks ! "sour patch fruit"- nice change !
Mixing them other fruits with afterwards would be good ( pineapple comes out so sweet I am glad I made the bites small ; my strawberries were a nice middle of the road sweet ; bananas & apples too ). sprinkle over pancakes/waffles and or ice cream or puddings .
I wonder what pumpkin will be like ?- probably try a leather mixed with apples

Thank You .How are your parents doing ??
Cheesy potato cakes sound heavenly -the roasted veggies do too.
I would almost forget to eat the meat .
For the sweet potatoes I I just threw them skin on into a big freezer bag and set it deep in the freezer (very back of my kitchen freezer was good) - I think I might wrap them next time to make the easier to get apart .
They warm up in the toaster oven, regular oven or microwave just fine - let them thaw to peel for mashing or whatever ( if you want them sliced do that while frozen )

Observant- I got a big bag from Trader Joe's, but I think they might be inexpensive at Aldi, too? And based on what I read, they are supposed to get sour... it was very cool! If you dehydrate them for 12 hours, they are like the sour patch candies (without the sugar) and if you go 24 hours, they are supposed to be like hard candy (from what I read).

Thanks for your kind words, Observant, and I'm sorry about the loss of your MIL.

I never thought to bake and then freeze sweet potatoes. Do you freeze them in their skin?

Faye, happy birthday to your daughter! What a fun day you've put together for her. The lemon bars are calling to me.

Raesmom, have fun with your girls' night. I'm not sure which sounds better -- the meal you planned for your boys or the chocolate lava cake!

Dinner tonight is cheesy mashed potato cakes and the last of the creamed spinach for DW. I am going to have some steak on the grill, if it doesn't rain, and salad with the roasted veg from last night.

    Happy weekend everyone!

I haven't tried any kiwi yet - adding to grocery list now ( best price anywhere ??)
Did the kiwi taste OK before dehydrating ?? might just have a sour batch this time
I got some white grapes recently ( forgot where on sale ) - one will be good the next one sour ! It makes for an interesting roulette -" who got the sour? " ! lol
