    jdouglas13 - I love the HT band of bakers bread with all the seeds on it - so good! You had a very late dinner tonight!

    We took my dad to a movie this afternoon and it was dinner time when it was done so we all went to IHOP. It was breakfast for dinner again! lol

    FYI - saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today. We were all looking forward to it and it is very rare we go to the movies since it is so ridiculously expensive. It was pretty depressing and something I wish I had just waited to rent for $1.20 on Redbox.

    For skinning . I steam my tomatoes so they do not get water-logged .
    Most recipes I found yesterday call for chicken broth -which defeats the purpose of reduced sodium lol.
    I think I have some of my own in the freezer .
    I have torn the house down looking for my foodmill today - I think it sprouted grandkid legs and walked away -grrr .
    It has been a while but I want to attempt paste and sauce sometime this week .

    Ran out of space, but wanted to mention that HT's BOGO specialty bread applies to almost all of their bakery breads this week -- the Band of Bakers brand as well as the other one that I can't think of just now. They have pretty good rye bread. I bought a few loaves for the freezer as well as the BOB dark raisin bread which is out of this world.

    Granof20, you might want to seed and peel your tomatoes for soup. Once that's done, you can pretty much follow any tomato soup recipe that you like. To peel the tomatoes, blanch them for a minute or so in boiling water, then shock them in an ice bath. The skins should come off easily. To seed them, just cut them in half horizontally and squeeze over a bowl once they're skinned.

    I just now came up with something for dinner tonight. I had planned to make salad with the leftover steak from last night (HT London broil sale), but felt like having something hot. So, it will be spaghetti with meat sauce - defrosted chopped meat and canned tomatoes from previous sales along with a whole lot of garlic, minced onion, shredded carrots, chopped celery hearts with the leaves, and a good couple of glugs of TJ cheap Chianti I keep just to make sauce with.

    Had I been here sooner, I might have had a combo of Faye's and RFB's dinners. Yum! :)

    Does anyone have a good tomato soup recipe that uses homegrown tomatoes not canned ones from grocery store ??

    ascherer - that's a great idea about cooking the whole pound of bacon and freezing. The 12 oz of turkey bacon did not survive tonight to see the freezer after the girls got into it. lol We ended up having BLTE (bacon, lettuce tomato and egg) sandwiches on rye bread with strawberries on the side. Delicious!

    Breakfast for dinner on my end also. It is just me tonight. So, I pulled some sausage patties and English muffins out of the freezer then boiled some eggs. Nothing fancy but it is food. When I cook bacon or sausage, I cook a whole pound or two, wrap it in paper towels, put it in a zip lock and freeze it. Then I just pull it out as I need it.

    Faye- so much fun!!!

    I bought some sweet potatoes and parsnips from HT today and I'm going to make Roasted Sweet Potato and Parsnip Quesadillas with Spinach and Goat Cheese in my handy grill pan :-)
