whooHOo family including exhausted son arrived tonight with pizza and homemade ice cream fixings !
We made pizzas & ate . Some of us started the ice cream while my AC got a tune up .
What a wonderful night with family ....

Observant, glad your brisket turned out so well! I hope your son gets to your AC sooner than later. I am a heat wimp, so I wouldn't be a happy camper.

Faye, you're such a great Mom - Katy Perry? Very cool! :)

Tonight we're having the Caesar salad and grilled chicken finally since it isn't raining. I even made a cake for DW today. Sort of a white buttermilk sponge cake with mocha frosting. Yum.

Verdict on the brisket - Delicious !!
AC has been not running to capacity the past few days - son/repairman swamped with paying customers so mama has to wait
but the good news no one was here to eat up the brisket but me & DH !!
I sort of combined RFB's recipe & Pioneer woman's - broth , half a bottle of chili sauce ( all I had ) - onions, garlic and spices ( chili powder , black pepper ) - I let it cook slow and covered. The house was already warm so I stayed near a fan & out of kitchen .
The sandwiches today were divine .
We have leftovers to enjoy a few days - yeah no big cooking just reheat .
Thank You ALL for your suggestions and help !!

Thanks RFB! Should be a hoot. It was a special treat for both of them after doing so well in school this year!

Tonight we are having homemade veggie pizzas early before I take my girls to the Katy Perry concert tonight. Good think I have ear plugs! lol I received a coupon for a FREE Mama Mia pizza crust package in the mail from a recent FB promo (I think) so I am using that as the crust and including green peppers, onions, tomatoes and any other veggies I can dig up from the fridge!

Ascherer and Twinredheads, thanks for the dog boarding tips! It would be nice for both of us to get away together. It's been a very long time since we have -- I think like never since we got our Scottie girl who's going on 10 years old, except when I was hospitalized a couple of times, and that does NOT count as vacation!

Twinredheads, would you please send me your email address as well? I'm at cbenedict111 AT gmail DOT com. Thanks. :)

twinredheads- I'd love more info! Would you mind e-mailing me at Diana@aspoonfulofluxe.com so I can have your info for the future? This seems like a perfect situation for Ocean :-)

twinredheads - that is some impressive teenage chowing!

jdouglas - I think you would love Asheville. The vibe reminded me a lot of Boulder.

The London broil was a hit. I slow cooked it on onion slices with McCormick Montreal steak seasoning, peppers and garlic powder all over both sides and then Herb and White Wine marinade poured over the top. The gravy was wonderful on the egg noodles.

BUT the best part was the blueberry and peach cobbler with sugar free vanilla ice cream. Oh my word. Below is the recipe. I'll post the picture & recipe again on Monday in the meal plan....because I plan to make it again next week! I picked this recipe because I have a lot of pancake mix and wanted to use it as the bread part. I used Krusteaz pancake mix (the kind where you only add water when making pancakes). I also used Splenda instead of sugar (dad has to watch his sugar intake). I used 3.5 cups of blueberries and 1/2 cup peaches. Next time I will use more blueberries and peaches!
