    *****CHEESECAKE ALERT*****

Since hubby worked on V-day we went out for dinner on Saturday to....drum roll please.....................CHIPOTLE!!! I love that place. Sundays dinner was at Champs for a birthday party after church. Back to cooking this week. Hoping for some inspiration from all my fellow smart shoppers as always :)

Some day I'll slow down when reading. ScoutMom, the rebate was from Lowes, right? :P

ScoutMom - where was the rebate for the chocolate? I bought DW some Lindt truffles for Valentine's Day, and something told me to save the receipt!

Faye, that marinade is so easy and you can do it for any kind of steak. Put the steak in a Ziploc bag, pour in some soy sauce, a little olive oil, and as much garlic powder as you want. Close the bag up tight so meat is mostly submerged in marinade. Put the bag in a bowl in case it leaks and into the fridge. Done. Version two, which is spicier, do all of the above, but also pour in as much Worcestershire sauce as soy sauce.

We had shepard's pie with the hamburger that was on sale at HT this week also using the B1G1 mashed potatoes also from HT.

    Nanny113 - Did I hear Cheesecake?? Yum!

Scoutmom - I do have that rebate - thank you for the heads up though!

jdouglas13 - I really do need to try that soy/garlic marinade on London Broil the next time we grill it. It sounds delicious.

We are having chili with cornbread for dinner. I am using the Jiffy Cornbread mixes I got from HT a few weeks ago. Most everything for the chili is a staple item in my cupboards/freezer so likely got everything on sale at some point. For dessert we are going to have one of the Sara Lee Cheesecakes I picked up from HT yesterday for $2.77. Just need to decide whether it is going to be the strawberry or cookies and cream ---- decisions, decisions.....

Faye, Did you see the rebate for frozen pizza (4$) from Budweiser. I picked it up at lowes yesterday and one for gourmet chocolate or flowers ($4) from Stella Artrois. It looked like there may have been another one but they were all gone.

Last night we had my grandmother's hamburger stew, AKA "mince" recipe over mashed potatoes, side of lima beans for me. Tonight is London broil from the freezer, marinated in soy sauce and garlic, and grilled outside. Sides will be grilled asparagus, and possibly some kind of potato pancakes made from the leftover mashed potatoes.

The other night we had shrimp picatta with some of the red Argentinian shrimp that are still on sale at Lowes for $7.99/pound. They come in a two pound bag, raw and shell-on, 10/15 count. We enjoyed them so much the first night we had them, we went back and got two more bags.

Last night both girls had friends who slept over here so we went with frozen pizzas instead if the baked omelet. Tonight is the baked omelet with a side of roasted asparagus (great deal at Lowes Foods!) and biscuits.
