Posted January 11, 2014

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

jdouglas- lol! And wow, I've never grill radicchio before- thanks for the idea! :-)

Well, it looks like breakfast for dinner here, too. French toast and some of that recent SD Cure 81 ham sliced VER Y thin. LOL

RFB, that old corned beef hash was all premade -- the whole thing was together in a can much like what dog food looked like in the 1960's. It came out in one solid piece. Probably why I dislike it so much. Let's call your meal a delicious concoction instead. It really does sound yummy!

I agree about the good produce prices at FL these days. They even have radicchio now. Wonderful grilled as a side on its own, or raw in a salad. Love fresh fennel, but SO pricey.

Dinner tonight is pork loin roast with sweet carrots, mashed potatoes, and Birdseye steamed veggies.

jdouglas... well I use the term "hash" lightly, mostly meaning just a mishmash of delicious things (no canned potatoes!) lol!

And I've found that FL has some really great produce, much cheaper. I think I saw kale, but still trying to wrap my head around eating it. My favs to get there are cilantro, parsley, leeks, and sometimes they have good zucchini. My other fav. for produce is Trader Joes. I'm soooo missing fresh fennel!

Good luck w/dinner... and maybe try your own version of hash :-)

Glad to hear you didn't lose power again, RFB. I have to say the tornado warning we had yesterday was a bit unnerving.

I'll have to check out the asparagus at FL. I've been craving fresh kale and haven't seen any worth buying since the first of the year. The produce guy at HT promised they should have some in this week, so I'm hoping.

Your hash sounds good, and that is huge coming from me who hates hash! Hash was one of my mom's "special" meals. Corned beef hash w/potatoes out of a can, topped with a very undercooked poached egg, and covered with ketchup. It was like all my most hated foods mixed together into my worst nightmare.

Dinner tonight is still a mystery.

Tonight we're doing Manly Man's Roasted Potato, Asparagus, Pea and Ham Hash. It's a recipe I created last year using my DH's fav. ingredients :-) So glad I was able to get a few of the free hams (worth getting up super early on New Years Day!) and the asparagus was kind of a splurge, but looked really good at FL!

Jdouglas- any time! And thank goodness the power stayed on the rest of the day :-)

tonight we had 9 can taco soup but I used real chicken instead of the canned stuff. Put 3 chicken breast in the crock pot at around 11am with the packet of taco seasoning, added the other 7 cans at around 3 and dinner was served at 6 :)

    Tomorrow will be leftovers

Tonight we had oven baked chicken tenders with Italian Parmesan Kraft Fresh Take coating for the chicken. Used the chicken breast tenders from B2G3 sale at HT. Very yummy. Side was a bag of Steamfresh pasta with veggies and tangerine slices. And we have leftover chicken for lunch tomorrow. :-)

I think tomorrow is breakfast for dinner: Scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and French toast. I have a loaf of bread I need to use up. Using .99 Walgreens eggs, Butterball turkey bacon that was free with sale and coupon at Walgreens recently and Nature's Own bread that was a great deal with sale and coupon at Lowes Foods recently.

That chicken picatta does sounds good RFB.

We had country fried steak, rice and ceasar salad. Tomorrow will be leftovers (we have quite a variety of those!)
