Tonight was going to be chicken pot pie but by the time the chicken was done neither DH or I wanted to mess with it. So we just nibbled our way through dinner (veggies, nuts, fruit and cheese).

twinredhead - that is pitiful! When my girls played soccer we had a couple times when the other team backed out because of weather and did not bother to call after we all trudged out for the game. Very irritating. Enjoy the pizza!

Tonight we are having the infamous veggie soup again with grilled cheese sandwiches. And for dessert, cupcakes with a homemade cream cheese frosting that is sooooo smooth and creamy.

Faye-The worst part was, the other team did not show up AND lacked the decency to call! Since we had the field, my husband (the coach) ran a scrimmage and then called it a day. Of course, we were all frigid by then! I think dinner tonight will be homemade pizza as the girls like to take the leftovers in their lunch during the week.

    I second that! :-)

twinredheads - so sorry you had to be out in this rain for a game. Thankfully, the high school marching band pulled out of the Clayton parade because of the rain or I would have been standing in it as well. Instead, I made cupcakes!

RFB and jdouglas - you two would be dangerous in a specialty foods store together!

jdouglas- yes we do! And I never went when I lived in Cary because I didn't know what I'd be looking for. I've done a lot of research lately on Asian ingredients, which helped a lot! :-)

Faye, your soup sounds so delicious! Sadly, my veg supply is too low today to come anywhere close to making your soup, but I am going to print it out and make it one night soon. I just really don't want to go out in this yucky weather. I think I'm going to make a chicken and corn chowder (maybe with some hidden broccoli) and garlic bread. I have mocha choc chip cookie dough in the fridge, and will bake some for dessert.

RFB, you and I really have to meet some day. We could do some serious damage foodie shopping together. Did you go to Grand Asia in Cary? Asian stores are also awesome for great prices on sesame seeds, which I go through an alarming amount of when I am making semolina bread. Also, candied ginger for cookies, etc. Yum. :)

We're doing Chicken Katsu tonight w/HT BOGO chicken breasts, and Panko bread crumbs also on sale there! Also, first trip to an Asian Market today, and couldn't believe how much less expensive noodles, tea, etc. were. Plus, finally was able to find tonkatsu sauce... excited! :-)

    And yes... very yucky weather!!

Cod with curry sauce, quinoa and broccoli. Soup sounds a little better but I've already thawed the fish. Might need to settle for hot cocoa with whipped cream after my daughter's OUTDOOR futsol (soccer) game in an hour :)
