Posted December 7, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

What's on your menu tonight?

The frozen pizza dough was a bust, and we weren't fond of the hot sausage either -- just our own preference. Hopefully we'll remember for next time.

Tonight is... wait for it... mac & cheese, steamed broccoli. Anyone tired of reading that yet? lol

Raesmom, I love that you are teaching Rae how to cook and bake! Very cool! :)

Any time Faye, Any time!! She LOVES being in the kitchen....I guess she gets it from her momma LOL As soon as we get home from work everyday she walks to the kitchen and points to the counter and says "sit down", so I put her on the counter then she says "mix mix"......I usually give her a bowl with a fork and some spices and let her go at it...... Hey, that's how they learn, right?? LOL

chicken alfredo using free alfredo sauce from HT (using buy 2 get 1 free alfredo coupon), free noodles at HT, cheap frozen broccoli, chicken that was bogo (big pack) at LF a few weeks ago and some garlic bread. For dessert we have a choice between chocolate cupcakes (made last night by Rea) or peanut butter cooking/baking with my mini me :)

Chicken something. That's all I know at this point. :-)

Bought boneless chicken breast at Lowes Foods in Clayton for $1.47/lb this week (such a good deal - that price is only valid at the LF in Clayton) and will batch cook the whole value pack today to use in various recipes. Just not sure yet what they are. lol

Decided to get the 50% off Dominoes Pizza (from their FB page- good through today!) for lunch, and tonight... working on something using just what we have on hand (mostly from past HT sales)! Tortellini with roasted turkey sausage, carrots and onions w/a cream sauce with fresh sage and orange zest... we'll see!

Tonight we had leftover squash casserole, sautéed shrimp, salad and avocado wraps ($5 bag frozen shrimp from Walmart), and sautéed, fresh organic collards I received this week through a local produce delivery service.

Homemade sausage pizza using pizza dough that I've frozen and then defrosted for the first time. Hoping the yeast is still alive and kicking!

Gator Girl, your soup and muffins sound delicious. I've been craving lentil soup for months, but split pea sounds really good too.

Thanks for sharing, ncveteranswife and Gator Girll! Enjoy the flotilla!

Saturday night we are having grilled turkey & cheese sandwiches, Trader Joe's organic creamy tomato soup (soooooo delicious!) and leftover green salad from dinner last night.

We are having BBQ plates from a local BBQ restaurant since we are headed to the Beaufort flotilla this evening.
