Posted October 5, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

Chicken and broccoli Alfredo over penne pasta and garlic bread

Nothing too exciting. Roasted chicken drumsticks, baked tomatoes stuffed with a spinach/mayo/parm/worcestershire mixture, rice, and maybe some roasted asparagus.

Tomorrow is DW's bday, so I'm planning to make a buttermilk yellow cake with whipped mocha buttercream topped with dark chocolate ganache and some toasted or candied almond slices on top. I may be looking forward to the cake more than she is! lol

I saw the Alexa onion rings at WalMart - 3 different stores in the past week because I have been on the hunt for McCain's boiled potatoes .
Just Save has some very good fresh green beans - 97 cents a lb. thru Tuesday .

Tonight we are having hamburgers (with all the fixens), sweet potato fries, and broccoli slaw. I really wanted onion rings (Alexa has some great frozen ones), but just couldn't find any. Now I'll be thinking about them until I get my fix.

ncveteranswife - that sounds like fun! Love seafood!

Good luck with the refired beans, prcindibob. :-)

We are having BBQ beef sliders on Sister Shubert's rolls that were BOGO with coupon recently and made with London broil I got BOGO last week, honey BBQ sauce I got free at some point this summer, onion slices and seasoned with pepper and garlic powder. Side of Mahatma rice (free) and apple slices (.99/lb at Kroger today).

I'm going to make tacos tonight with the Old El Paso kit I got at Lowe's Foods this week with a coupon/sale match to make it cheap. I'm also trying to make my own refried beans since I had some dry pinto beans in the pantry. Hopefully they'll be good (and healthier than the canned version)!

Going to the Seafood Festival in Morehead City with family and then we are grilling some steaks with grilled corn, salad and baked potatoes.
