What's for dinner this weekend?

Posted August 24, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

RFB, the recipe sounds really good. I am not fond of overly spiced things myself -- I like a balance of flavors without heat dominating everything else. Thanks fo posting it! :)

Easy dinner tonight. Burgers on the grill, homemade buns, corn on the cob, and a tomato basil salad with lemon juice and EVOO.

Tonight we had whole wheat pizza from HT dough balls topped with cheddar cheese and ham from Land O Frost rounds - 99 cents with Lowe's Foods super doubles! Not a healthy dinner, but it was cheap!

    Thanks Faye!

Thanks jdouglas13! Actually, I spiced it up tonight and added on some Tony's Creole Seasoning from a dish I made a few months ago! I chopped 1/2 an onion (or you can use a shallot) and add w/4 pork chops into a large skillet w/oil. Salt, pepper and add on the Creole Seasoning (I don't use much- spice wimp!) Cook over med-high until just cooked through and set aside to rest. To skillet w/onions add in about 1/3 cup heavy cream, a few tablespoons balsamic vinegar and a few squeezes of Dijon mustard. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to simmer until thickened a bit. Then drizzle over the pork chops (if you let sit for 5-10 min. w/the heat off, it thickens even more). Hope you enjoy it... it's one of our favs, and perfect as pork chops are typically on sale somewhere!

RFB, the sauce for your pork chops sounds yummy. How do you make it?

RaleighFoodBlogger - I agree about the Swiss and Provolone that was in stock at LF today!

Remind me what your previous username was. I can't for the life of me remember it.

I know what you mean, Faye, on the chicken! ;-) Have you tried Paula Dean's Wine Chicken? It's so simple, and I add in chicken broth instead of the wine (unless I have some on hand.) Excited to have gotten so much swiss cheese today at LF, plus have some cream of chicken soup and stuffing mix from past sales in the pantry for this quick and easy recipe!

Good advice on the kabobs, jdouglas. Thanks. :-)
