Observant - I love the story about the poppies. It amazes me how our Dads show our Moms that they are there once they are no longer with us.

Observant - you are very welcome! I have not had one with the pie crust bottom.

I love using the pan of water for steam when making bread! I actually destroyed a few pans doing that, I think because they went dry. What kind do you use?

I would love to have your recipe for caramel frosting! I think I put on 10 lbs just thinking about it.

I also love your story about the poppies! That is so awesome! Your Dad was sending them to your Mom for sure. :)

    jdouglas13- Thank You !
Have you even had one with the pie crust bottom ?? I thought all were graham crust until a few years ago when I had Juniors ( it is sponge cake and very good )
One of my recipes for french bread calls for a pan of water on the lower rack - it is delicious bread ! I do like using an ice bath for some recipes - caramel frosting would not be the same without it .
LOVE the stories about "visits" and "messages":
My Daddy loved poppies . He planted the seeds every year in various places around the yard and garden - but none would grow .
The week after his funeral we were walking around the yard to see what up and blooming - lo and behold the largest field of poppies I have ever seen were blooming ! They continued to bloom every year until my mother died ( 25 years later) .

Twinredheads, thanks so much for posting the recipe yesterday for the potato/ham cakes. They sound really good! I'll have to try them. :)

Ascherer, I love your butterfly story. I'm so glad your Dad came to visit. They really are all around us. :) My Mom has taken a liking to playing with my computer/printer/keyboard. I was attempting to post something about her birthday on FB, and she just wasn't having it. The keyboard wouldn't work at all when I tried to type her name. It has been forever since DW and I have been to Outback. Sounds fun! Enjoy.

Observant, I do not have a recipe for a cheesecake like you're looking for. Mine has a graham craker crust. I looked around and found this recipe. I have not made it, but hope it helps. I think for any of the crustless cakes, you will need to use a water bath (bain Marie). Make sure your springform pan is well covered in foil!! http://www.food.com/recipe/new-york-style-crustless-cheesecake-308672

Had apps and cake with friends for a late lunch, so we're not too hungry. We had breakfast for dinner last night, so tonight is still TBD. :)

Tonight we are having breaded tilapia, rice and a mixed veggie medley.

observant - Your nachos sound really good!

ascherer - that is such a sweet story about the butterfly. I am so glad you mom had her kids home to share the holiday with her. Enjoy your Outback dinner (and no dishes!).

Raesmom - I'm so glad NBS likes some real food and not just KK donuts. Awesome on the kitchen aid mixer. We are going to have to talk soon about it. JDouglas and others gave you good advice yesterday. I love mine. I have had mine for a few years but learn something new each time I use it - which is not often enough.

Tonight is going to be dinner out with friends at Outback. I have a free app card and I normally get the app Quesadilla as my entree. It will feed me dinner tonight and lunch on Monday.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break from life. Christmas is a hard time of year for a lot of people here on the blog. Mine had a touch of magic. Momma had her children home with their spouses which was the best present she wanted. And then this wonderful magical yellow butterfly was flying around Momma's house yesterday. Since Daddy left us, she has said the butterflies were her sign that Daddy was visiting us. A butterfly at Christmas. I'm still smiling.
