raesmom, My Mom died years ago but I treasure my kids and grandkids and the family meals we have together. So sorry you can't be with your Mom. Try to enjoy your Mother's Day.

Wise words, RFB. Blood does not a family make. Sending lots of hugs to all!

Savvysaver - your cinnamon apples sound great! So do the blueberry pancakes! We ended up having turkey sandwiches tonight instead of breakfast for dinner. Mine had lots of veggies so it was probably a lot healthier than the eggs and turkey bacon I had originally planned. lol Sides were cantaloupe and leftover pasta from last night.

RFB - that was so well said. Sending you cyber hugs, too. :-)

LOSLTP- thanks. Yes, it can be a difficult time of year for many. I lost a mother right after I was born, and I've also not been able to be a mother. But... I'm grateful for the most amazing woman in the world that chose to be my mother when I was 1 month old... and grateful I can still give her a hug. I've always believed that true family is much more than blood relatives... and comes in many forms :-) Sending some hugs to you too!!!

Faye - We had breakfast last night! We did blueberry pancakes with bacon. It was delicious!! Now we're eating healthier, more balanced meal tonight.

We are having Pork Chops topped with cinnamon apples cooked in the crock pot. Then sides are horizon mac and cheese, corn, and Rhodes rolls (.39 from super doubles).

losltp - sending big hugs to you. I can't imagine someone being treated poorly because they did not have kids, and I am sorry you have experienced that kind of negativity. And I am sure everyone (four-legged and two-legged) have been lucky to have your help. It has been 6 years sine I lost my mom and I agree about missing her just as much now as when we first lost her.

jdouglas13 - I know this is such a tough one. The first Mother's Day without my mom was the hardest. Sending you lots of hugs.

raesmom1612 - you know I am still keeping you and your mom in my prayers.

Hugs to jdouglas13 , raemom1612 and anyone else that has lost a mother or lives too far a way to be with them .
I too have a hard time with this holiday - I start avoiding TV when the commercials start .
My mother has been gone 14 1/2 years but I still miss her just like it was yesterday.
My darling DH NEVER complained about the $200 phone bills way back then - it was cheaper than driving to see her every day (and therapy) .LOL
After years of trying and treatment , I could not have children so that makes it even harder sometimes- some people treat me like a lower class person since I am not a mother .
I have found ways to fill the voids - I do for others ( humans and animals ) to make their lives a little better even for a small amount of time .
Again HUGE HUGS to ALL !

Raesmom, you and I are having almost identical dinners tonight. The had Perdue oven stuffer roasters on sale here for $0.99/lb, so I picked up 2 yesterday. One for tonight, one for the freezer. I think we're having sweet potatoes and my corn/string beans/tomato salad with it (because I made enough for a small army yesterday).

I'm having a real hard time this year with Mothers' Day and have taken on a bah humbug attitude about it. I'll be glad when I stop seeing all the Mothers' Day ads.

CDAVISMK1- those pork chops sound delicious!

Faye- yum on the breakfast for dinner. Oh, and today at Trader Joe's I bought some peppered turkey bacon and thought of you. I'll let you know how it is!

Nanee Lion- what a sweet gift! And sending hugs your way, too.

Raesmom- I'm so sorry you can't get back for Mother's Day. But, I'm sure she's smiling knowing what an amazing daughter she has!
