    Jdouglas- jicama tastes like a mix of an apple and a potato to me. The recipe I used had me add lime juice and cayenne to it (julienne)... delicious! You can also pulse it up in a food processor to make "rice."

    Raesmom... are you referring to my little cookbook obsession? LOL ;) Thanks for the link. Glad y'all are back safe and sound.

    RFB - I've never had jicama, although it is on my must-try-soon list. Is it naturally spicy or is it spicy because of your recipe? Does that make sense?

    So glad to be back home! Tonight will either be homemade burgers on the grill with corn on the cob and potato salad or old faithful Spaghetti with a side salad and garlic bread, poor DH had to work today (we got in at 7am) and I'm not good with the grill at all, so it depends on how he feels.

    Found this freebie for an Italian cookbook, I got mine, but it seemed like something jdouglas and RFB (and others of course) may enjoy. It's while supplies last.

    Wow, your menus sound so delicious Faye and Twinredheads! And Jdouglas... yum... watermelon sounds perfect for today's heat!

    And we ended up grilling yesterday (DH did a tri tip- he's addicted!) And tonight we'll do leftovers, and I'm going to make a nice veggie dish with guacamole and spicy jicama in romaine leaves. I'm also working on some snowball cookies with coconut and brazil nuts!

    Love your menu today, Faye, especially the dessert! I used to make a chocolate cake that had frozen raspberries baked into the batter. I wonder if that could be done with brownies. I just might have to try that.

    Other than our second whole watermelon for the season (the first one was a real dud so we bought this one at a farm stand) we have no plan yet for dinner. Grilled chicken sounds awfully good though. Maybe over a Caesar salad for me, and shredded in the food processor into ?? for DW.

    That sounds great, Twinredheads! We had a family Labor Day BBQ last night but we are grilling again tonight. We are having grilled chicken breasts, leftover pasta salad from yesterday, green salad and brownies with whipped cream and fresh raspberries.
