Meredith and RFB, you are going to love spaghetti squash. Delicious with pesto, too, or even just a little butter, parm and garlic. But then everything is good with parm and garlic! :)

Thankfully, the slow cooker has stopped smoking, so I guess it's okay. The stew smells really good, and should be better after an overnight rest.

Tonight might be breakfast for dinner as I'm running out of ideas and out of steam.

Meredith- that sounds fantastic! I've actually never tried that, and am inspired :-)

Well, no idea what we're having tonight, but I just fired up the slow cooker for the first time about 15 minutes ago to make beef stew for DW to eat this week.

And, "fired up" is such an accurate description, too. The thing has little wisps of smoke coming out the bottom of it, so I called the manufacturer who said that happens sometimes, but if it continues, I can return it. You can bet I'm going to return it if it continues.

Between the slow cooker and missing SD, this is really not my week. Dang again.

Any suggestions for an easy dinner that won't kill my stomach before flying are welcome.

I am going to make spaghetti squash for the first time tonight. I've been wanting to try it for a while now and I got one at the HT sale last week. Topped with some home made marinara sauce and some parmesan cheese from HT B2G3 sale. Served with a side salad and garlic bread.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have so much to learn, I chickened out and I'm going to leave it in the freezer for tonight at make beef tacos. He brought it home and quartered it but I'm not sure how to tell what's what. We have a grinder and my husband said he planned to make some sausage with it. I'm afraid of doing it wrong. I better do some more research. A stew sounds like a great idea. Maybe in my slow cooker?

wildfrenchrose - thank you for posting your dinner tonight! That reminded me that I have the Hebrew National light hot dogs in the fridge so that is what we are having as well. Side of sweet potato fries and steamed baby carrots. I may even bake a few of the pumpkin cookies in the freezer to round out the orange themed dinner! lol

When cooking deer meat you need to be sure to get that white tendon thing off the meat and you need to soak it in vinegar, salt water to get the gamey taste out. You can chicken fry it with gravy or you can make a stew out of it. If you stew it, cook it in tomatoes to tenderize it. I don't know if you are making sausage or anything else out of the meat, so that is all I will suggest for now. Good luck.
