Monday meal plan: What's on your menu?

Posted July 29, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

Here are our meals for the next couple days.

On Wednesday, we have family coming in to town for my Dad's 80th birthday celebration (Happy Birthday Dad!!) so meals are up in the air for the rest of the week.  There is no telling what my brothers and their lovely families will want so I am just rolling with it - which should be really fun!

Stir fry chicken and veggies on rice

Egg rolls

Celantano light cheese ravioli (BOGO recently at HT) with marinara sauce

Garlic bread

Oh no, jdouglas! I am so sorry your C is still not back on. When are they coming to fix it???? I don't blame you for getting the window AC unit.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my dad. :-)

Turkey sandwiches. I actually broke down and bought a loaf of rye bread. No sale, no coupon. :( But we are going on 48 hours of NO A/C!!! and there is no way I'm putting that oven on. It is so bad in here my DW and I actually went out and bought a window A/C unit today. I figured it would be cheaper than several nights of a hotel and pet boarding.

    Not a happy camper today.

On a better note, Faye, very best birthday wishes to your Dad on his 80th! That's awesome. Have a wonderful time with the family! :)

Friends for dinner tonight...grilled pork chops ($1.99 lb at LF), HT brand homestyle mac n cheese made special by including bits of country ham, salad and rolls bought who knows when on sale. Then Turkey Hill ice cream (think I got it for $2 or less at the LF super doubles) with pound cake my friend is bringing and fresh sliced strawberries from HT last week.

I meant that my oldest is at "band" camp - not "bank" camp. :-) I would probably like bank camp though.

We may have a change of plans. My oldest , who is at bank camp all day long, requested chicken salad this week. The chicken is in the slow cooker now so I may just surprise her with chicken salad on croissants as well as stir fry zucchini, squash and parmesan (squash is .99/lb at Kroger this week) and a side of brown rice.

wildfrenchrose - are you dissing the mighty mushroom? Say it's not so. I could eat mushrooms with just about everything. The peas, on the other hand, would be picked out on my plate! LOL

Trader Joe's chicken fried rice, Birdseye Steamfresh garlic baby peas w/mushrooms (which shall be picked out--yuk).

parchment oven baked salmon and orzo.

Homemade mac and cheese for meatless Monday. Free or nearly free whole grain elbows and a brick of reduced fat Velveeta with an unknown history. Found lurking in the pantry, can't remember when or why I bought this! A wedge salad with tomatoes - the last of the homegrown - and homemade blue cheese dressing.

Turkey stroganoff, peas and fresh fruit.
