That sounds perfect Coupon4me! Comfort food at its best. I like to run mine under the broiler to top brown it. Actually I like it just a bit before one might call it burnt. DW does call it burnt LOL.

Jdouglas13 - we are having mac and cheese too! I made some cheese sauce the other night on the stove for veggies but I made way too much, so a box of penne and leftover sauce = dinner :-)

YBAverage and Barbiedoll, I'm sorry you're both sick! Feel better soon! Soup sounds perfect.

Barbiedoll, I'm still dreaming about the wonderful oatmeal cookies you brought to the swap in December. Any chance we can get the recipe for them?

Raesmom, if you have a little wine or beer, that gives the stew a lot of flavor and helps tenderize the meat. You only need about 1/2 a cup or so. The alcohol mostly cooks off.

Yay for dinner out with friends and NO COOKING! :) :) :)

Sadly, tonight I am cooking. On the plus side, it's going to be mac & cheese, steamed broccoli.

Just like ybaverage2003 I have had a bad headcold with sinus congestion all week. I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Tonight Juno (my Siberian Husky) and I are either having turkey hotdogs or (depends on if I'm motivated enough) chicken alfredo (LOVE PASTA).

Thanks Faye that was very helpful. I think I'm going to try to wing it with what I have on hand (pretty much everything you mentioned except our beloved mushrooms lol). I will turn it into a stroganoff tomorrow with sour cream once I have the chance to pick up some mushrooms. Enjoy your dinner with friends!

ybaverage2003 - oh no! I hope you are feeling better very soon! Chicken soup sounds like the perfect comfort food.

Raesmom, when I don't have a seasoning packet for beef stew, I usually just use garlic, pepper and beef broth (bouillon in water usually), I also add plenty of onions, carrots and mushrooms in the slow cooker for added flavor. You can make it more of a stroganoff with a creamy gravy by adding a mix of flour and sour cream and some of the hot broth to the slow cooker about 30 minutes before you plan to east it so it has time to thicken up. Then serve it over noodles. Now I am drooling. lol

Kathy S. - Your dinner tonight sounds tasty and easy!

I am having dinner with a group of friends tonight so no cooking for me. :-) Yay Friday!

So I thought I had a packet of beef stew seasoning and I put stew meat in the crockpot. Turns out I don't have the seasoning packet!! So I'm going to go online and look for a recipe that uses stew meat in the crock pot or run to the grocery store once DH gets here and grab a packet. Hopefully I find something online :)

Gourmet buffet. There is chicken/beef fajita from last night's dinner or crockpot pork. Veggie and salad.

It's been a long week and I am down and out with a nasty cold, so tonight will be homemade chicken soup.
