Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

Losltp - the brownies smell amazing! Brownies with ice cream sound delicious. I think I'd like a little hot fudge over the top rather than a banana. ;)

My back is getting better. Still sore, but no shooting pains. DW is still having a variety of health issues. The naughty twins are being their usual naughty selves. The little guy is doing better between his ear infections and newly diagnosed arthritis in his hips. His new (and very pricey) meds seem to be helping. He has to get bloodwork done this week to make sure he can tolerate the meds, so fingers crossed.

    Thanks for asking! :)

smolder13 - I did make the pumpkin french toast and it was amazing. I actually quadrupled the recipe and froze a bunch and we have been enjoying it all week. It's delicious!

Losltp, your menu sounds amazing. For what it's worth, I vote for bad! LOL Or, have some fruit after you have the brownies to cancel out the bad. :) All joking aside, brownies freeze really well. I discovered that when I had made way to many one time and had to get them away from myself. Now when I make them, I freeze them in individual portions.

Faye-did you end up making that pumpkin french toast the other day? How did it turn out? I may give it a whirl tomorrow morning for breakfast...

comfort food for me tonight as well
( all from freezer or pantry -no time to shop the last 2 days ) -
chicken stewed in the slow cooker all day ,
dumplings from homemade biscuit /baking mix ,
cream style corn I pulled, and fixed for the freezer last year
and green beans I picked and canned in the last year or two
Thinking ( good ) fruit mix (bananas, grapes, apples & peaches ) or ( bad?) homemade brownies Do I need brownies around ALL weekend while DH on long overnight shift ??

Jdouglas - I'd say that white baked ziti with spinach and shrimp sounds pretty awesome!

Faye, that sounds like a big pot of soup you're making! Enjoy your comfort food. It's well deserved.

Raesmom, thanks for the good thoughts. That cookie swap sounds fun. I thought of your DH as I was making the cookies. ;) Great job on your weight loss to you and Smolder!

Comfort food needs to be on our menu tonight, too. I'm thinking of a white baked ziti with spinach and shrimp, although pizza sounds pretty good too.

smolder13 - that is a great looking mushroom recipe.

I am amending my earlier dinner plan. The kids are still having mini homemade pizzas. I have had a long week and needed comfort food so I made homemade veggie and pasta soup today and I'll be enjoying that with a roll for dinner. I imagine my husband will have some of both. I actually made a big ole' pot of soup so we'll have it with dinner tomorrow night as well. And maybe lunch. And I'll send some home with my dad this weekend. And maybe even freeze some. lol :-)

Great job on the weight loss Raesmom! I've lost all but the last 4 lb of the "baby weight" and have been stuck for months now. So frustrating! Especially since I had a few more pounds I wanted to get off past where I started before the baby was born.

Thanks to everyone's suggestions about the portabella mushrooms yesterday. I did them today in the oven, then broiled them for the last few mins with the cheese on top. They were delicious. I will definitely be buying more. I used this recipe:
Just added a touch of honey to the marinade to counter a little of the tartness from all that mustard and balsamic. It's a keeper. I'll be trying it on chicken in the future.
