Posted November 29, 2013

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

What's on your menu tonight? Leftover turkey something?!

Turned the leftovers into my husband's favorite: layered casserole. Mashed potatoes topped with turkey, gravy and then dressing in a casserole dish. Girls don't like their food mixed together like that, so since it IS their 14th b-day, bought them their favorite meal of snow crab on markdown at Kroger.

I could have eaten the whole pie myself lol. Great info about herbs at FL -- I didn't know they had them, espcially for such a great price - thanks!

jdouglas13- Me too! The tarragon makes them so delish, and so thankful you can find fresh herbs so easily- especially love that at FL they are just 99 cents (for a smaller pack, which most people find just enough for a few uses :-)

And that meringue sounds so yummy!

RFB, I had to check out your hot browns. Yum!! I love the addition of fresh tarragon. One of my favorite herbs! :)

Dinner, leftovers. I think my favorite part was the lemon meringue pie.

I tried something different with the meringue this year, and made a swiss meringue (heat the egg whites and sugar in a double boiler until mostly smooth before whipping) and then baked it until I thought the piecrust couldn't stand another minute. The result was a lovely crunchy outer shell with a fluffy interior. Perfect!

I'm bummed that we have no leftovers! I'll have to fix a turkey breast soon so I can make sandwiches.

We didn't make a huge amount, since it was just the two of us, but we do have leftover turkey! I'm so excited to make my favorite- Hot Browns. It's a tradition every year- Hot Brown Friday! I mix mine up w/some fresh tarragon (on sale at HT). I had some bacon from past sales, and heavy cream was also on sale today at HT.
