Strawberries

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like. If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas for what to make with all the great deals you have bought on sale recently.

What's on your menu tonight?

Changed my mind after grocery shopping. Baked chicken breast with a mayo/shredded Italian cheese blend, Spanish rice and salad. Leftover pinapple dump cake.

The husband is camping tonight with his Boy Scouts so I am on my own for dinner. I think I will have leftover stir fry from earlier in the week. We marinated and grilled a flank steak from Food Lion (clearance for $4) in a honey teriyaki sauce. We also grilled broccoli, carrots, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and spinach and then threw it all together and served it with rice. It was delicious! Makes me look forward to having leftovers :)

wildfrench - that's such a good point. Couponers often have enough overstock to be able to whip something up without having to make the extra trip when the original meal doesn't work out (or gets vetoed, which happens at my house sometimes).

I think we are having breakfast for dinner tonight including southwestern roll-ups with scrambled eggs, cheese. turkey bacon, green pepper and onions on a tortilla with a sides of sweet potato fries and watermelon.

At least we're flexible, huh? Nice when you have enough stash to mix it up last minute without dashing to the store...

Oh and I am not sure tonight we might have hamburgers with a side salad. I need to go shopping.

I know what you mean wildfrenchrose. I was planning gorditos with the skirt steak and refried beans with pinapples baked with brown sugar for dessert. The boys didn't want gorditos without sour cream and I had apparently run out of brown sugar. So it was marinated skirt steak (which turned out really well), spanish rice and pinapple dump cake (which was also very good).

Yesterday's Belgian waffle turned into a chicken salad sandwich...oh well.
Today is spaghetti w/meat sauce & garlic toast. Mueller's hidden veggie pasta dirt cheap from a ht super doubles event, Barilla sauce dirt cheap that I'm trying to use up cause I bought so much and don't like it (need more chili powder-I've used it all on the Barilla sauce), ground beef on sale at CC's.
