RALEIGH, N.C. — All westbound Interstate 40 lanes near Wade Avenue in Raleigh were reopened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday after a tractor-trailer wrecked in the median Tuesday night, police said.

Lee Roy Burton, 70, ran off the left side of the road, and the tires of his tanker truck sank into the soft ground, causing the tanker to overturn on the median guard rail, according to a Raleigh Police Department accident report.

Burton wasn't injured. The truck was removed from the highway around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the slick road conditions might have played a role in the wreck. Investigators with the state Division of Motor Carrier Enforcement were reviewing the case to determine whether to file charges.
