Authorities closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Exit 218 in Greensboro Thursday morning due to a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and 10 other vehicles.

No serious injuries were reported in the wreck, which happened about 7:30 a.m.

Lanes will likely remain closed until Thursday afternoon as crews work to clean up the roadway and investigate the wreck, Department of Transportation officials said.

Motorists should avoid the area.

Drivers headed westbound on I-40 should take Interstate 85 Business southbound for 2.5 miles and access Interstate 73 North to return to I-40.

Memo to WRAL: Why not just advise motorists from I-40 Westbound to use I-85 Southbound to US 421 Northbound (i.e. I-73)? Really, that whole stretch was once I-40 not too long ago until the DOT....

I think DOT should re-sign that stretch of 85/73 as I-40.

But I digress. Hope everyone was OK.

Hope no one was seriously injured. Looks like a bad wreck though.

hope everybody is ok
