West Johnston grad found shot in Wilmington parking lot

Wilmington police found Joshua Todd Proutey, 19, in a parking lot Thursday night.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Wilmington police were investigating the death Thursday night of a man found in a parking lot.

Police said Joshua Todd Proutey, 19, appeared to have been shot in the course of a robbery sometime before 11 p.m. Emergency responders found him unresponsive near the corner of 2nd and Orange streets. 

Proutey, a graduate of West Johnston High School, was enrolled at Cape Fear Community College.
