Wegmans announces plans for Raleigh location

Posted October 30, 2016

Wegmans, the family-owned N.Y.-based grocery chain, has announced plans for a Raleigh location. This is in addition to the sites planned for Chapel Hill and Cary.

A statement from Wegmans spokeswoman Jo Natale indicates, "Wegmans has signed a lease with Regency Centers Corporation to build a 120,000 sq. ft. store in Raleigh, NC (Wake County) on Wake Forest Road near US Interstate 440. This site is in addition to two sites (Chapel Hill and Cary Towne Blvd.) announced earlier this year. In addition to these, Wegmans is considering other sites in the Raleigh/Durham market, but until there are firm deals for each site, we are unable to share the locations or other details."

The family-owned, Rochester, N.Y.-based chain has 88 stores in New York, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts and they are continuing to announce upcoming stores planned for North Carolina.

According to the Town of Chapel Hill, the Chapel Hill store should be located on Hwy 15-501 and is currently the location of Performance AutoMall. The AutoMall should be closing in July 2017. The store plans to bring 350 new jobs to the area.

The Wegmans in Cary will be located across from Cary Towne Center.

Coupon Policy

Here are the basics of the coupon policy from their website.

The policy they develop for North Carolina may be different and we will know more in the future.

*Wegmans accepts both Manufacturer's and Wegmans store coupons.

*Wegmans doubles manufacturers' coupons that have a face value of $.99 or less.

*Four manufacturers' coupons will be accepted on four of the same brand product per day.

*The value of the coupon may not exceed the retail price, including doubled coupons.

*You can use a manufacturers' coupon and a Shoppers Club discount or store coupon on the same item. You can't exceed the retail price when using both coupons.

*No printable free product manufacturers' coupons.

*They do not double manufacturers' coupons that state "do not double".

*They will not accept an Internet coupon that is over $4.99.

Wegmans also has a Shoppers Card reward card program and Shoppers Club apps.

Why would hb2 have anything to do with a nice grocery chain coming to the area? We 'do' live here and the economy needs all the boosts and jobs it can get. Bring on Wegmans! Just like Publix, don't have plans to shop at either much, but sure like my choices,

Folks "obsess" about HB2 because hate and discrimination in any form is disgusting and unacceptable. Period.

Why do you all obsess about HB2?
Conservative Cop, you sound like a lame anyway. #anyonebutcopslivesmatter

HB2 doesn't affect Wegmans. They will have a family bathroom.

The Cary location is over on the back side of the mall, new construction. You exit off 40 onto Cary Towne Blvd, head towards the mall. Mall is on your left (JC Pnenney side), Wegmans will be on the right where they've been clearing for awhile, before you get to the little school.

For the Wake Forst Rd one, I saw a blip on TV this AM saying it would be ITB, so the old Hannaford location is a good guess.

It is indeed a true sign of the economy. Wegmans' stores are a privately owned chain that sell a high variety of foods aimed at an upscale clientele. They're coming here because a lot of people are making (and will continue to make) good money in this area.

Wherever it is on Cary Towne Blvd., that is 2 stores that double coupons which are close to each other. Will be nice to have 3 stores in the area doubling coupons up to 99 cents. Hope Wegmans has more deals than Lowes.

"Cary will be located across from Cary Towne Center"

Where? Book store shutting down? Harris Teeter just built new store there 2 or 3 years ago.

a true sign of the economy - an area of the city that used to provide a lot of competitive wages (alcatel) will now be home to jobs at or barely above minimum wage,
